Now, *that* is how you know that the RAD has kicked in. As for mildness... the Fatboy is an adjustable razor so, in some sense, it can be as mild as you want. Personally, I think that the absolute lowest settings may be too mild and/or ineffective. Collectively, we've seen a blade or two that actually fails to perform correctly below a setting of '3'. That said, though, you should be able to find a setting that meets your requirements for a 'mild' razor.
It's a tool. A nice one, but at it's basic level just a holder for a razor blade. Take you time and learn how to use it. There's reasons many folks like a Fat Boy. On the flip side it'll cut, nick, scrap, and give a superior case of razor burn if applied with bad technique.
That's nice. But I still ponder why one would make a commitment and THEN ask for advice. Kinda puttin' the cart before the horse. Just my thoughts. It's your money. Enjoy it your way.
Now to learn how to use them! Has anyone introduced you to the term Acquisition Disorder? Then there's the rabbet hole. If these razors make you happy being the new owner that's a start. A few shavers are Minimalists - they own one each soap/ brush/ razor/ type of blade/ & aftershave. Either they've tried many and reduced their gear to what works for them, or they got lucky or satisfied with the gear they own. The other end of that spectrum is The Collector. Personally I've purchased, shaved with, and found my comfort zone. I still have several razors I don't use but I keep them because I like they way they look. Very few of my collection are new or refurbished. My socioeconomic situation combined with an enjoyment of walking flea markets has allowed me to find close to a dozen Fat Boys "in the wild". None were museum quality NOS cased. User Grade suits my needs. Picking them up for between $5 & $15 plus the thrill of the hunt entertains me. The folks I've traded or gifted them to were happy as well. I hope you get many fantastic shaves from your new to you gear! Since you shop the upper end of the product line if they don't satisfy you may recover a portion of your investment. Please post some photos when they arrive.
