Not a fan of the current offerings and definitely not eating that. If there was some frozen mastadon meat, I would give that a go but fruitcake, no thanks.
I can't. I'm diabetic. If I wasn't maybe a small peice. Just like Mikey I'll eat anything or at least try it.
my mum,(english) used to make one every christmas, though i never knew where it went.it would last forever.last one i saw was a few years ago and she still had it sealed in a tupperware container.she said it was still good.i thought maybe as a door stop.not for me thanks....
I've never met anyone who is ambivalent about fruitcake. People either love it or hate it. I'm a fruitcake lover. My grandmother made them every year around Thanksgiving, and began soaking them in bourbon every few days until Christmas. By the time we had Christmas dinner, you could have set fire to it and it would have burned till New Years Day.
I had an old world Irish neighbor who would do the same thing with Jameson's.. That cake would have easily lasted a hundred or more years too.
I really like fruitcake, in very small quantities with coffee or tea, but the unholy carb content is now prohibitive. It's the glucose equivalent of collapsed star matter.
There's old frozen Army rations from Korea sealed in cans that have lost a lot of nutritional value but aren't literally inedible yet.
I was reading this, and thinking, "Yeah, what the Hell, I'll try it." Then I had this really sort of vivid imagining of the most agonizing stomach ache ever. I'll pass.
