Yes I remember that thread re the Personna. I just got the Gibbs,I'll have to give it more focused attention and see how she goes. FWIW I had no problem adapting a standard blade. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
How did you do it? I remember trying and finding it hard to make sure the cuts were centered. I'd like to give it try. Thanks!
If you have a gibbs blade, you can use it as a template. Mark the tabs and then set it in. Screw the cap on to it's just snugged tight. Now make sure the tabs and the marks on the blade are aligned, get a handle towel, fold it and place it on the counter. Give the head a wack on the counter and it should cut the tabs for you. OOOOOOOR, You can use the template of a gibbs razor and use thick good scissors and cut out the tabs. I've used both methods. Works great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just tightened the head upside down and used the posts in the Gibbs to punch the holes after I carefully aligned a blade in the cap. Clean and perfectly aligned. This might not work well for all blades (I wouldn't try a Kai) but it worked fine. And now I have a template to see how a scissors works. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Dubl Duck 'Lifetime' (aka 'Grim Reaper'); circa 1930-39; rare as hen's teeth and models that do show up are usually less than pristine yet fetch a staggering price.
There are many razors I would like to have (open comb tech, raised flat bottom new, oc aristocrat), but I don't see me paying the asking price most people want. Also I would like another BRW Improved handle. That is more of a want than the previous razors. About as close I came to a grail recently was a mint Barbasol Floating Head with case and shipper. The sad thing is that this nice razor is just sitting in the case while I am using a banged up $2 OCMM.
I've been a bit lucky and found a few of my desired razors. I would still like to find an old type bulldog and an OC Aristocrat.
