GEM Pushbutton this morning. It's been a while since I've used this razor - too long. It worked really well today. Smooth and comfortable are the key words. Have a great day!

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The De Vergulde Hand Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #144 finest badger brush. I did the two passes with the Schick E3 and Personna Stainless blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Peach WH and then Barbasol AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Razor: Schick '500'
    Blade: Schick Proline (1)
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Cream: KMF fragrance-free
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

First shave with a newly-arrived Schick '500' Injector. I need to post some pictures later, but it appears to be a later version as it is only labelled "Schick" (in newer typeface) and "'500'". It doesn't seem to be as new as the one which @GarnerPW recently purchased, though, as it has the J-style handle. It definitely is shiny with its golden head.

First impression- it is definitely the most head-heavy Injector that I've used. Part of this is the added weight from the Hydro-Magic hardware and part is from the longer handle. In any case, it was a smooth shave with two passes to a near-BBS and no issues. I'm not sure if it represents any major improvement over my J1 but it should be a fun addition to the rotation.

This morning I went back to the Clog Pruf to see how the OC & CP compare. As the devil is in the details here are the details of the shave.

This morning I went with my JR brush. This brush actually started off as a PIF from a nice young lady here who was thinning her brush herd. It was one she set herself but came apart on me from using too hot of water in my pre-soak(I won't do that again). I liked the knot so much that I had Jim set it in one of his handles for me. The only negative thing I could say about the brush is that it's a little light, but still one I will keep in rotation. The next JR brush I get I will have him add some weight to it.

For soap I decided on my self made "stick" of Smolder by Blades Grim. What can I say about this soap. Some guys love it, I'm not a big fan. Don't get me wrong it lathers easy and it does not have an offensive odor to me but there are too many soaps out there to try to keep an okay soap in your den. Once it is gone I will not be replacing it. I may have to offer it to my oldest son, he liked it.

I went with my used PAL blade. This is the blade I used the first time I used this razor and had less then stellar results. After the good results I got from it in the OC I decided to give it another try. I am glad I did. This mornings shave was great, almost heavenly. It felt as though I could do no wrong with it. Very smoooooth. I tried to be mindful of angle and keeping the cap against my face which I believe was the main factor in the good results. After a two pass shave I ended with a DFS. A shave that makes me look forward to the next time I get to shave.

I finished off the shave with a cold water rinse then a splash of Rose Petal WH. In closing what I have learned from today's shave is:

    • The CPMM is much milder/smoother then the OCMM.
    • Do not write off a razor after just one shave. Come back to it after a while. 9 times out of 10 it was technique that was bad not the razor.
    • I am glad I found this place and the people here. They have lead me to the wonderful world of shaving.

    Schick E2 & Schick Proline AC blade-Type B [ 2 ].

    DO Try this at Home.
This is my second use of the AC blade in the E2. It does calm the Razor down a bit, but still plenty of blade feel to tell what still needs doing. The Barbershop style Vitos Red provides a good lather to work with. The Schick need a lot more care and attention during the Shave than the modern AC using SEs, but can provide a shave that equals/betters those
I have got with the likes of the General,Supply SE [ with Proline fitted].

Personna injector this morning. Mild razor, yet effective and comfortable. These mild razors work fine for me on daily morning shaves. Hope you all have great shaves and enjoy your day!

Another neat injector! I really like the ones with atypical handle colors, and especially this one with the navy handle and silver razor head.
