15 August 2017 Adjustable August Shave

Pre: Agua quente, soap from the container and a hot towel
Razor: 1971 Gillette Super Adjustable 109
    Blade: The Voskhod
    Brush: Rubberset 303
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap
Post: Hot/Cold water rinse, alum block, cold towelx2, Dominello Vitali Calming Post Shave Moisturizer
    After Shave: Canoe by Dana

Going to go with the Fat 'til Friday. This morning's shave went great. The Rubberset 303 spent one minute on the puck and ninety seconds in the mug and delivered a slick comfy lather. 2.5 passes offered up a near BBS shave. I have to say that being away from this razor for a couple of months makes me appreciate it's versatility all the more.
Well, one more day until Herself 's DEROS. It'll be good to have her home.
Y'all have a good day. I'll be sitting here in my little aluminum box watching it rain.

  6. TOBS is easy to lather and solid product. I would rate it better than Proraso Soap (not the cream) but not in the league of the soaps you mentioned. I have always found TOBS to be very slick when enough water is added. Take some time away and come back to it another day.
  7. Is Red the new Green?
  8. I actually shaved with TOBS last night, and it is in my rotation. It lathers so easily that I sometimes settle and under-hydrate it, and when I do that, it tends to lose some slickness for me.

  10. Manly yes. Especially for those who need the......."Titan Magnum"? :ban:
  11. Have fun!
  12. Thanks guys. Sounds like the bottom line is not to expect the same quality as my best soaps, and make sure to hydrate properly to avoid irritation. That's exactly what I wanted to know. :happy088:
  13. Well, I just passed 1,000 posts today. Does this mean:
    a. I've got a serious problem
    b. I've annoyed everyone sufficiently
    c. I should be proud
    d. I should be ashamed
    d. All of the above
  14. Probably A. Never B. We can't be sufficiently annoyed. Definitely C. Maybe D, depending on some of your posts.

Congrats, though on passing that milestone!!!

  15. Congrats on reaching the 1k post milestone. I am looking forward to the next 1k

  16. You joined in March? Very impressive tally! I'd vote for A, C and occasionally D, if you are anything like me. Never B. Even if you ever had an annoying stream going, the Shavey awards get you one free pass...;)

  17. Congrats, Randy!

My wife always fits me into D when she sees how much time I spend on here. :)
  18. Add me to the a, c, and d crowd. It's great to have you around.
  19. I would go with "second D" (is that sort of like the hobbits' "second breakfast"?) However, if you have reached 1,000 posts without getting banned then I don’t think B really applies to you.
  20. Are posts and "messages" the same?
