  1. Great looking family!
  2. Another nice 2 pass DFS brought on by The Gillette Slim on 9 and Proraso Red. The Alum was mostly quiet meaning 1 and a half weeks and I’ve got the slim dialed in.

  3. Today's Shave with Chris,
    or
Chris And The Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Very Bad Shave

Have you ever gone to shave with a set of gear that has been tried and true for you and had the shave just go off the rails? That was today.

    Gillette Slim
    Rapira
    Omega 10049
    B&M Seville
    Witch Hazel
    Stirling SDM aftershave
    Homemade balm

This is usually a solid setup for me. I changed only two things in my routine:
-Shaved in the morning instead of the evening
-I went ATG on pass two

My first pass was uneventful. Steady sailing as usual. Pretty dang smooth. Pass two? Huge mistake. My angle felt good. No pain, no pressure, sounds of hair cutting, but when I got done...

...I noticed multiple weepers on the neck. It's been a good while since I have seen one of those. And then I started feeling the irritation. And the dryness. I mean, it dried my face out something fierce. So I hit the witch hazel. Still dry. So I hit the Stirling. Still dry. So I hit the homemade balm. A little less dry, but still irritated. I'm not sure where I went so far awry with gear that I'm usually quite comfy with, apart from hitting the ATG pass. I'm writing this one off. Tomorrow is a new day.

  4. Sometimes the Universe throws a hand grenade our way just to remind us that in the end, we are all corrupted :D. Was your morning prep the same? Was your lather good? Blade still had some life? A little distracted or something maybe? Heck, I don't know...karma routinely makes me it's lap dog...
  5. Some days ya eat the bear..some days the bear eats you. Drive on!
  6. Sorry for the undesirable results. The worst irritation I've ever had in wet shaving was from using a Slim. You're right - tomorrow is a new day!
  7. Brand new blade, lather felt right, all prep was the same (hot shower, the splash of cold water is all the prep I ever do). Wasn't rushed. I dunno. All I know was I didn't do as good as I thought I did. Got me some humble pie. Onward and upward.
  8. The bear had a good snack today!
  9. If it helps, let her know the use of the figurine helped to increase our collective inner calm.

  10. Thank you, Clint!
It sounds like I am patriotic! Thanks, Keith!
    Thank you, Brian!
  11. The worst possible news. It was indeed a Hand Grenade from the Universe. On the bright side, the cosmic balance is restored, and you'll happily go back now to great shaves. :happy088:
  12. Easier to ask forgiveness than permission
  13. Very True.
  14. Hopefully it'll only be today! My week of shaves have been about like that. Normally, I try to learn from my mistakes...but, when you don't know what mistakes you're making, that makes it kinda tough! May the shave gods shine down upon us tomorrow!
  15. This falls into that "Mars is in retrograde" excuse that one of my employees used to quote when the computer didn't work or the power went out or something weird and unexplainable or unlucky happened. I didn't buy into it, but came to quote it tongue in cheek because thinking any more about it was a waste of time. Therefore, I'd file it in the "Mars is in retrograde" file and move on.

Gillette Canadian Pre-War Fat Handled Tech w Nacet (1)

    Stirling Gentleman Balm

I am travelling for work the next several days and shaved earlier this morning. Changed up my travel razor for the week and brought my pre-war Tech. After using it again earlier this morning, I'm wondering why I don't use this on a more regular basis. What an absolutely fantastic, simple razor this is. The Nacet is a star in this razor as well. The Palmolive was its usual minty shot of cold and the Omega brush did just enough to face-lather it nicely. 3 passes plus touch up later and I am very near BBS. Finished with the great scented Gentleman, and I can't remember having a better shave away from home.
    Have a great day all!

  17. Great photo and lineup Jason. Have a safe and productive trip.
  18. The one variable that you changed today that could explain the irritation seems, to me, to be the ATG on pass 2.
  19. Thank you, Clint! Great shave to start the day, and now heading into meetings after lunch.
  20. Nice travel set up.
