Thanks, Jim. It is a long enough trip that I checked a bag and therefore could bring blades I wanted from home. It seems to be the only advantage to checking bags these days.

I know the feeling. The last trip I made was a short one so I did a carry on. I used a disposable just for that purpose. When I got to the hotel, I realized I had forgotten to remove a tuck of blades I keep in my dopp kit just in case. It made it through both security screens, so I wonder if they are letting those through now. The only complaint TSA had was my flame resistant clothing, which apparently shows up as an inorganic material, and therefore suspicious material, on the xray. They had to unpack (and then I had to repack) my bag at both ends, but never a question about the blades.

Have a safe and productive trip.

Thanks to Jared @PickledNorthern for putting a name to the concept of "The Inspired Shave" , and to @EnglishChannel for his thread about Feeling a little guilty - but i did it anyway...
I rubbed some Williams stick into the dry textured bowl and loaded a dampened boar brush on the previously melted Lime soap. Applying glycerin prelather to tallow rubbings, dribbled a small amount of Pinaud and agitated. Up popped a creamy glossy lather! Couple small additions of water and away I shaved. Still getting good service from the Russian Steel I stayed the course and took my three out of order passes; WTG, ATG, & XTG on setting 9, with a follow up couple WTG passes on my neck. Smooth creamy lather with plenty of residual slickness and Lime scented goodness left me in DFS condition. Alum swiped smooth and quiet telling of no errors. A splash of Ed's juice kept the citrus going.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

I experimented with that and found I get a nicer finish going ATG on second pass. Doesn't mean it will work for others.

I'm certain that was the culprit for the irritation. It felt right while I was shaving, but the proof is in the (blood) pudding. I usually got WTG, then XTG and rarely an ATG pass after that. The first pass felt so good that I skipped ahead. No idea why I did it, either. The dryness was weird, though. I've not felt that dried out after a shave in ages, and never with this selection of tools.

Perhaps it was an impending eclipse moment. I saw t-shirts here locally that said "South Carolin - Totally Mooned".

How do you figure that shirt had anything to do with the eclipse?;)

I have always taken SOTD photos a day or two ahead of time. However since I have not been feeling well, I have really been cheating on SOTD photos. ;) If I feel well on the weekend, I take a bunch of SOTD photos to get ahead. I was feeling pretty decent couple of weeks ago so I did 2 weeks worth of SOTD photos at one time and uploaded them onto my calendar app to help me remember what photo to use for each day.

I am better. The meds are working but not as well or as quickly as I had hoped. I can be a bit impatient

I know this is putting the cart before the horse, but what will the theme for the focus thread in September be? I hope it's single edge September because my SEs are calling me!

After 15 years in the military, I don't have a lot of places left on my world map I feel the need to visit. Scotland however is prominent on my Bucket List (and Ireland, and Britain). If your grand-daughter goes to the bridge in Stirling, she'll have to remember her claymore...
