Thanks, Buddy. You are right. You can totally get lost in the shave for a while.

    Adjustable (Arko) August!!!

August 16 - Grand Blade Trials

    Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette Fatboy (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Brush - WCS Synthetic
    Post - Alum

Shave three for the Dorco Titan. Same setup, turn the Fatty up to 9 and get the lather going with the West Coast brush and the Fat. Fine two pass plus touch ups for a baby smooth success! Now, the alum is a bit on the warm side and even after the shave I'm feeling just a hint of irritation. Based on my third shave on the Prime blade, as well as the first shave on both blades, I'm still convinced that the Titan is a bit sharper than the Prime. Or else the coating difference is enough for the difference in feel. Either way, no problems with the shave and I'm actually very happy with the result of both the Prime and now the Titan.

Where does that leave the ST-301? Well, it also did a very fine job, but not quite as nice as its two more creatively named cousins. My preference of the three? Close call but I like the Titan. Especially on 6 on the Fatboy.

Tomorrow night - finally - the dollar store version of the blade. Now that I have the feel of the name brands down I should hopefully easily pick out any differences in the el-cheapo version.

A nice shave this morning using the Black Beauty and Big Ben blade. I did two passes for a DFS. The blade has definitely surpassed my expectations. I was in a barber shop type.of mood this morning, and this soap and AS fit perfectly. I hope everyone has a great day!

I haven't used Fine Platinum soap or aftershave in a long time. Honestly, I had forgotten just how much I like the scent. I wet my face and the top of the shave stick and rubbed on the soap. The scent was already making the morning better. With a damp brush I began face lathering taking my time to add water slowly. In no time at all I had a mountain of wonderful lather. Even though I don't find Fine soaps to have the residual slickness of Mystic Water or Route 66, I always seem to get a very close shave. This morning's 3 pass shave was no different. With skin stretching and minimal touch ups I finished with an excellent shave. A splash of Fine Platinum was the perfect end to the shave. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.

Another great pic. I don't know how you do it, but that is just CRISP. The contrast between the bowl and brush so vivid.

    Have a great day.
