1. Well I am in the process of building a razor restoration toolkit and parts. Yesterday my wife and I were in the Los Angeles Jewelry District getting her ring worked on. I scored these two items for less than $20 at a jewelers supply store. [IMG]

I already played a little rounding a pin. What a difference the right tools make

  2. That's cool. It makes a big difference when pinning.

  3. Yep that's the hope. I may drill a small hole to a certain depth in the flat surface for the pinning

  4. I need something like delicate that. I just have my large bench vise with a flat surface to work with, and a large Ball Peen Hammer. I have to be way to careful with that heavy hammer of mine.

  5. Yeah, I did that with mine. I drilled it in the side.

  6. Yeah. I had an 8 oz hammer and it was way too big. The 4 oz hammer is just right.

  7. They are available all over but I did found this nice one for about $10 on Esty.

  9. More bench top tools of the trade: I don't use them all the time but its better to have 'em and not need 'em than otherwise. :D

Clockwise from big ball peen hammer: 16oz, 8oz, 4oz; Jeweler's block (final peening), variety of small files, Punch set (1/16" for stubborn pin removal), doming set (for washers); flat files, two pair flush cutters (different sizes); needle-nose plier. Second photo: two vices; one standard with peening surface, one 360° rotating (very handy when I need a third hand!)

  11. Nice. There is something so heartwarming about a fully stocked workbench. I love tools and various gizmos.

  14. That is very cool, Kevin. It would be a sin to envy your setup, so I will just be happy for you.

  15. How exactly do you dome washers? What size washers do you use and where can you get a doming set?
