    Screwtape A Shaving Butterfly

Thursday morning August 24 - repeat yesterday

    Rockwell 6s on plate #3 / Topaz Platinum ( 1 )
    Omega B+B Essential Boar
Kent / MWF in beechwood tub
    Alum and rinse

Yesterday I didn't put enough water in The Fat's lather for the first pass, then overcompensated for the second. The shave was less than stellar although the end result was fine.

In similar circumstances, Shakespeare's Henry V led a renewed assault shouting "Once more unto the beech, dear friends!" Taking this [slight misquotation] to heart, I girded my loins, seized my trusty boar brush, and once again assailed the beechwood tub of Mitchell's Wool Fat. A minute of rubbing the damp brush on the puck had it very heavily loaded, after which a good palmful of water allowed me to whip up a Sasquatchian bowlful of properly hydrated lather. A very good shave ensued.

I did have one microscopic weeper on my chin where I think I must have nicked a pimple but it sealed with just the cold water rinse between passes. The alum was totally silent. My face now feels clean and dry. I think the MWF may be a little drying if used regularly without any witch hazel or other postshave product, but it's not bad.

    Good shaves, everyone!

    Last night:

    -IBC Razor
    -30 DC Brush
    -Stirling Gentleman Soap and AS

The blade should have been pitched after the last use, so I ended up with a pretty poor result. Carelessness, trying to compensate for a dull blade left me with a nick I shouldn't have gotten. Time to get back to the basics.

I have decided that September is going to be a month of all shavettes. I have been spoiled by the forgiveness of straights, and it is affecting my technique. I also expect I will be traveling most of the month so it will work out great anyway. The straights will be relegated to weekends.

    Have a great day.

Nice clean, crisp photo, Jared. What badger knot did you end up putting in that 30DC?

Thank you. It was a truly rotten pun but I just couldn't resist it.

Thanks. It is a TGN 2 Band Fan. I am very happy with it in its setting. The opening gives enough room for a really big splay and bloom. Makes it feel like a bigger brush.

It is so pleasing to be getting some of my best shaves from a razor I honed myself. If only I could do home like this consistently
    Arko Shave Stick
    Oscar 11 Brush
    Frederick Reynolds Razor
    Alum
Vintage Shulton Old Spice After Shave
    Have a great day![IMG]

Seven seems to be the magic number on the Schick for me. Great comfortable shave with DR Harris Marlborough and B&M Reserve Classic to make for an excellent shave.

Another great lather from the Soap Commander and another nice shave on 7,7,7 from the Super Adjustable. Touched up my neck enough that I'd have to call it a 4th pass, but did come away with a BBS for my troubles. Finished up with the excellent Spice.
I think I'll go away from 'Adjustable August' for a bit, and will switch it up a bit for tomorrow.
    Have a great day all!

24 August 2017 Sure Happy It's Thursday Blade Focus Shave

Pre: Hot water, soap from the container, hot towel
    Razor: 1967 Gillette Slim Adjustable
    Blade: GSB
Brush: JR#161 NY Mets Special Edition by @Jayaruh
Soap: "Jeff's Soap" from Cold River Soap Works
Post: Hot/Cold water rinse, alum block, cold towelx2, Dominello Vitali Calming Post Shave Moisturizer
After Shave: Speick for Men Erfrischende Pflege

Today's shave was accomplished with "Jeff's Soap". I wasn't sure about a jasmine scented soap but it was very nice. Slick with a nice cushion.
2.5 passes with the Slim Adjustable/Gillette Silver Blue combo and I was BBS again this week. I've been messing with the weekday numbers and "8" & "7" or "8" & "6" seem to give the best results.
Splashed on some Speick and it was off to another day in the fun filled world of corporate security.
    HANG TOUGH JEFF!!

Thank you Jared. The background is a black desk in the front room. In the afternoon it catches the light coming in and reflected off the wall.

A little Honda would be the ticket for the last 6 miles of gravel road up the mountain. I would get killed on the highway here in Atlanta trying to leave the city.

They have me taking one drug to slow my GI track down which was helping a lot but not completely. Monday they added in a happy pills hoping to reduce stress which is causing my body to produce too much acid, bile etc. That addition is proving to be the ticket. Would I be wrong in saying I actually enjoy the happy pill :D

Fantastic B&W Photo. It really has a vintage newsprint vibe to the photo. :eatdrink047:
