Really nice shave today. A couple of firsts:

Alum - Not actually a first since I've used it once before, but I worked alum in today for the first time in forever. I have an Omega alum stick that looks like a Palmolive or Wilkinson Sword soap stick. I rubbed it on, dried out my brush and policed the area a little, and then washed off. My face felt pretty nice. I thought about skipping the witch hazel and going straight to Speick but just went ahead with it. All turned out well.

Soap Commander balm - I had a sample of balm in the scent of the soap I used. Amazing stuff!! Rich and thick but goes on easily. Nice little menthol touch. I am really impressed with the quality of the balm, but shouldn't be surprised given the quality of their soap.

Enjoyable, smooth and comfortable shave. Hope the same for all of you. Have a great weekend!

Saved by the bell? All kidding aside, things are always dicier and more adrenaline producing on a bike. Close calls you wouldn't even really remember the next day in a car, are things you remember forever in the bike. I'm glad you are okay.

Good to hear you make out of that near disaster alright. The difference between a hero and a zero are 5 lucky seconds. :happy088:

Thankfully I have long legs and can push a bike with a34 inch seat height without getting off the thing. All kidding aside, I think one of the cells on the battery is toast. Checked it with the voltmeter and everything is great until you put a load on the battery then the numbers suck. I will call my Brother in Law, he owns a dealership, and order a new battery. I replaced it in the summer of 2014. Even on a trickle charger is it is about due.

I know. It is better to be lucky than good. Jared is right. Years later I recall the dicer times much better than the perfect times.

Now here is a blade that I touched up on the Arkansas a couple of shaves ago, and the edge is as good as I could ever hope for, which argues against my preferring a "crispy" edge from a synthetic. Maybe just another example of how inconsistent my honing is? Who cares, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.

Raining here, so not a lot to do except blow off the same inside chores I have been blowing off for months. Hope you all are doing well.

I was going to say the exact same thing to you, but got busy with supper.

    Thank you, Doug.

Like an orange bank sucker. At first I wasn't sure I cared for them on a 150 year old razor, but they have really grown on me.

Amazing to me how easily the great, irritation free shaves are coming now with DE...decided to be a bit less pedantic about the post-shave. Bypassed the alum, witch hazel, and ASB. With the excellent skin care properties of the L&L, a rub with the Frostbite leaves my face feeling just fine.

The little Brushcraft is my current favorite brush. A 21mm lather monster.
