Thank you, Clint! Plans are in place if needed, but most of the refinery has lost interest at this point. I am definitely not complaining, though.

Since I will most likely hop in on SEptember, I figured I would take a few days off and switch things up. Tonight was the red tip. I am not normally a fan of TTO razors, but I got a very nice comfortable shave this evening.

I just got back to my room after a beautiful memorial folllowed by hanging out with the family of my friend that passed. I was able to tell them some great stories that they loved hearing. It was a nice evening.
It was also pretty special to come back to my room to see all of these nice well wishes. Thank you guys!
Now it's time to get ready for bed as I have to get up at 3:00am for an early flight home.
I'm still debating if I should lay out the straight for morning:)
    Good night!

    Sunday shave:

The lather was awesome and the edge felt great as I started very smooth and sharp. I was hoping for an epic shave. This razor was just touched up on a Zulu Grey, while I can get smooth edges there are just hair less sharp than I get from Shapton glass 16... operator issues??? I finished very smooth but some feedback from the alum and two weepers or they were pimples that got mowed down.

Karma catching up for me poking fun at you - I'll be in my parents attic tomorrow looking for a leak. Hoping it's just a turbine vent needing lube. Otherwise I'll get tar all over me.

    I wouldn't.

    Adjustable (Arko) August!!!

    August 26 Grand Blade Trials

    Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (3)
    Blade - gillette-7-oclock-sharpedge.jpg (1)
    Soap - Truefitt & Hill 1805
    Brush - 30DC LE
    Post - Alum

Gillette continues in the blade trials with the world famous 7 o'clock yellow, otherwise known as the SharpEdge. This is a blade from St. Petersburg and has a reputation for being very sharp. I've seen some compare it to the Feather for sharpness. A few have even rated it sharper. It's a platinum blade and has a stainless cousin in a green wrapper. There's also an Indian version of the 7 o'clock. I plan to run through all three back to back.

Soap for this blade is the Truefitt & Hill 1805 that @Bama Samurai picked up in London for me. I have found this to be a great scent and the lather to be very very slick. If lathered correctly. Tonight was an instance where I didn't give it quite enough water. It still produced a lather but it dried out on my face to almost a powdery consistency before I got to the left side. Some water on the end of the LE brush and another lather run over my face cured that problem. Note to self - the soap is a bit thirstier than you think at first. Having made that correction the lather was awesome.

Two passes and touch up to a very nice DFS. Yes, this is a sharp blade and I can tell from the result. I suspect BBS will be easy to do at the higher settings on the razor but I may have to watch for irritation/blood on the steel. Is it sharper than a Feather? I can't say since I haven't compared them but it is definitely one of the sharper blades out there. Very nice shave with quiet alum in the end.

One of my top tier blades. I don't know if they are as sharp as a Feather, but they are much smoother in my opinion.

Your are right in that! I know it was rough for those in Corpus area. But, if the reports from our refinery down there match the rest of the town, it really could have been worse there as well.

I would agree with them being very smooth. I may have to slip a Feather in with these and see how they compare up close.

My current Stirling samples are running low so I decided to try a few more. So far I love the Barbershop and Bay Rum and the Sandalwood is above average for sure. Added the three below. Have to say that on first sniff the Ozark Mountain is excellent! He threw in the bath soap sample for free. I may have to fight SWMBO for that. She fell in love with the scent.

You picked three of my mainstays. Ozark is one of the first Stirling soaps I ever bought, and I am on number two. Can't wait for it to go to Sheep base.
