  1. Did cigars for a while. Gave 'em up a while back - drove up the cost of my life insurance premium.

  8. While reading "Washingtons's Crossing", I found out how Newark NJ got its name. It was a Puritan settlement called "New Ark of the Covenant."

  15. Rich, my youngest son came over with that bag, they had a chilli powder type coating. I'm not overly adventurous when it comes to food, but I've read and have seen TV shows where grasshoppers are used in a lot of countries as protein. They weren't bad, certainly not good.

  19. Better day today, past few weeks have been hectic (more hectic than what has become normal-hectic)....of course, beginning of the school year is like that on the IT department.
Things seem to be slowing down...still a lot to do, but more manageable now.

Yesterday was amazing.....I never win anything, be it door prizes, end of year banquets with drawings, etc.
Well, yesterday I got the email that I won a $2000+ gift card to Palmetto State Armory....Ho Lee Carp!
And then, found out yesterday evening that the school board approved for me to have an assistant this year. I understand their hesitance in years past with my predecessor here, but enrollment got a big bump this year, and we're less two teachers, so there's a little more room in the budget.

Perhaps this crappy year I've had (that started almost exactly one year ago) is showing signs of being better this year. Hope so, I'm not sure I can handle another 12 months like the most recent ones.
