One more day with the Lux before I go back to the SA for the last 2 days of Adjustable August. Just an ok shave this morning. I face-lathered a nicely scented lather and had 3 uneventful passes. Didn't do any additional touch ups or an extra pass on my neck and am somewhere approaching a DFS. A little below standard, actually. I might need to spend some more time with this Lux in the future. After using this razor for 4 shaves this month, I'm not calling it one of my favourites. I do like the handle, so I might try repurposing it on another head.
Finished with the Unconditional Surrender, which has gotten some rightful praise on the thread lately. CL really does make a top-tier product.
    Have a great day, all!
  8. Surely those Fall leaves are not from this year yet, Clint? Beautiful picture.
  9. Cool brush, Randy! Glad your new software and hardware are working out.
  10. That might be my favourite photo effect of yours, Jim. Great pic!
  11. I hear you, John. It was cruising the Fendrihan site that got me thinking about DE shaving in the first place...
  12. Thank you, Doug! Have a great day!

  13. Thank you, Clint!

The Variant is a great razor. It is heavy which I like. It seems to be put together fairly, although the fit and finish is not quite as good as some other razors. It is easier to load than the Merkur Futur, and seems to offer about as much adjustment as the Merkur. I have it set on 1.5 or 2, and that provides me with a very easy DFS automatically. I will dial it up the next couple of days to see how it does. For the price, you can't argue with this one.
  14. Beautiful picture, Mark!

  15. Thank you, Jason! I wish I could take credit, but the app does all the work. :)
  16. Great picture, Jason! And, and great choice of AS.
  17. Thanks, Jim. If you like the Unconditional Surrender, I think you'd also enjoy Gratiot League Square. On the 'recommended pairings' page on their site, they list everything from Bay Rum to Tabac as matching it.
  18. Back to the roots today. Decided I should give a straight a spin since it's been several months with the DE and I don't want to forget how to shave with a straight lol. My fears were unwarranted, just like falling off a bike :). Had a great shave!

This old Iberia 14 is the last of my straights (aside from an old Montgomery Ward mail order straight I keep for sentimental reasons). It survived a purge that eliminated some great razors from my line up based simply on superior performance. It takes an edge like a champ, is well behaved on the hones, and delivers sublime shaves effortlessly. When I conducted The Great Straight Razor Purge of 2016, it came down to this straight and an Iwasaki Swedish carbon steel razor as "The One" with shavability the only consideration as to what I kept. I simply couldn't decide which I preferred, so they went up for sale at the same time and I decided I'd keep whichever didn't sell. The Iwasaki sold first.

I should probably wipe my gear down better for photos, but I'm more about the documentation, less about the art. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it :D

The brush is a Panta Rei 30mm Black Manchurian Badger. The proprietor makes the knots, his wife makes and paints the handles. Very nice brush. Had it for a couple of years but don't use it frequently.

The Old Spice is a ~1960 ish Shulton version. I have 4/5ths of a bottle left or so and ration it out for special occasions. I figured a "once every two months straight shave" qualified. It pairs really nicely with the T&S Maya.

Looks like an epic shave to me, Keith!
    Cool new brush, Randy!
Dang Clint, I've said it before and I'll say it again. That Dammy is shiny!
Cool photo, Jim. I was going to ask about the Variant, but I see other have beat me to it.
    Great photo, Perry!
    Nice setup!
I've got a sample of Stirling Baker Street going too, and am really loving the scent!
    Nice razor and brush, Mike!
