I'm sure. In 29 years I only went into a fire once. My partner and I were first to arrive at a row house fire and someone said a guy was in a back bedroom. The living room was fully involved but we crawled in and the bedroom was empty. On the crawl out I could feel my shirt starting to melt(50-50 poly cotton). Man, I was never so glad to be out of a house. Turns out the guy went out a back window from the living room. He was burned over 60% of his body.

 

Amazing how much hotter a blazing space is compared to what you think it could be. In the Navy, we'd have to go to fire fighting trainers every once in a while. They in NO WAY prepare you for the real heat, difficulty, obstructed vision or confusion of fighting a real fire that is trying hard to kill you. The first "real" fire I ever experienced was a fuel oil leak turned fire in our engineering main space on my first ship. The overwhelming instinct in a fire this hot is to get the heck out of there immediately. But your options to run are limited on a ship. Fight the fire or swim. A pretty good motivator to stand and fight.

 

Another happy baby! It doesn't get much better then this!

Yourself as well. "RetLEO" = Retired Law Enforcement Officer I assume! I was fifteen years between the Army and the Navy. Did a Law Enforcement tour for a few years of that. Fun some days, not so much others, but always new challenges.

 

I can only imagine how you felt. I'm very thankful that the fire was brought under control and your daughter was unharmed.

Thanks, Mike. That's a clear, concise and detailed explanation of How to Train Your Boar. (Dragons are a pushover by comparison. )

I will start using that process immediately, although I am going to break the rules and use two more new CRSW soaps for the first two days. No, actually I won't -- I will do test lathers of each in my palm with the SOC but I will do my actual shaves with my 30DC LE Maple Cashmere synthetic brush.

And I think I will do a mini Focus on the SOC during SEptember...

 

Yup. As Artie Johnson used to say "Very Interesting". Did kinda color my perception of the human race however.

Vent all you want. It's tough when it's your kids and you can't help. I'm glad they got it controlled, those things can be scary.

You know I was just pondering, over a roast beef sandwich, that I have probably averaged ten sammiches a week for better than twenty five years.

That's over 12,000 sandwiches out of a lunch bucket. And the crazy thing is that I still enjoy them.
