Hi folks, I was talking on my two way radio this morning, and an old friend keyed up and asked me if I still collected razors. So I answered in the affirmative, and he proceeded to tell me about a garage sale near by, that had a few razors. So he gave me the address and off I went. The folks at the sale had a box with a few cruddy SE's and an old and crusty Gillette New SC. Also a few decrepit straights. I was a bit disappointed, but determined to have a good day anyway, so I bought the whole box for $15. I figured what the heck, the New SC would be worth that anytime, no matter how grubby it was. So I get the box home and sort through it. 3 VC-1 Valet Autostrops. 2 Ever Ready SE's. 1 Enders. 1 Christy. 1 Schick injector. 1 Gem Pushbutton SE. 3 straight razors that may be restorable, but need a lot of work +scales. 1 grubby New SC. 1 disassembled Gillette Old Type. 1 antique Schick electric razor. 2 early American barber pamphlets. Also various used blades. I do have a hidden Gem (so to speak) that came out of all this- the Gem Pushbutton SE is of a style I have never seen before. It's very cool looking. Here's a few photos- Here's some photos of the straights where the writing is on the spine. I can't read the small printed words very well, so maybe someone can tell me what they are, and if they are worth someone repairing them for use. - Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Isn't TSD great?! My friend Rick, @RyX, located these bottles of Brisk for me as I couldn't find it locally. I made a trade with him. Generous on his end and I'm grateful that we all enable help each other!
Got a new toy today. Not exactly shaving-related ... although ... I might be able to learn how to turn my own brush-handles Bought it used, along with some tools and some wood for my first excercises. Wife isn't too happy about the mess
Stopped into my favorite little mercantile today and picked a couple of things up. Of course I had to stop into an antiques store as well. I picked up a Robeson Sure Edge "The Razor that fits your face". The sticker on the scale says, "Ground and honed for heavy beards...very tender skin...for nervous man". Since some of the sticker is missing, I'm not sure what the complete sticker said. Any ideas?
