Thank you. I do wish the handle was a bit taller. These knots were the first fan shaped knots Vie Long ever made. Up close you can tell the knot was part of a hand tied limited run.

Monday September 4 - another Supply Provision day

Supply Provision Single Edge injector on one - dot plate / Personna ( 4)
30DC LE Maple Cashmere synthetic brush
    Supply Provision Lost Provence cream
    Supply Provision Lost Provence balm

A very fast shave today in between phone calls on shift. Good shave although not as close as some. Call it a DFS to DFS-.

I like the Lost Provence scent, which is a "countryside" scent mostly of lavender plants with some blue sage and basil in it to add herbal depth. The cream is a good tallow product made with high quality ingredients and provides all the slickness, glide, protection, great postshave feel and other stuff one expects from a first tier tallow soap.

I think I will try bumping up a notch to the two-dot plate again to see if I can get a bit closer shave with my two passes without adding nicks and weepers.

Edit: I see that this deeply philosophical treatise was my 1000th post! Most of my posts have been in the 30DC, so I should thank you gentlemen for letting me babble enough to reach this milestone. A lot of guys do a PIF to mark their 1000th post. I considered doing one but I am lazy so I am letting TSD do all the work in its raffles.

I had that one, but felt I couldn't quite enjoy it, as I ordered it during the hot summer.

First of all, thank you all for your comments and reminders of what is really important in all this. So, staying with a simply enjoyable razor... :)

Going into today's shave, I was a little worried about the blade. I had spent some time yesterday reversing some of the yellowing of the handle and was afraid that the process might have damaged the edge. I needn't have worried, though, as the shave was smooth and effective. Actually, it may have been the best of the three so far with this combo. A great shave from this refugee from the Eisenhower era.

    Labor Day (Holiday U.S.)

    Pre-Shave: Hot Shower
Brush: 25mm(my caliper) Maseto Shaving(MS) Synthetic
    Soap: Electric Sheep, Stirling
Lather Bowl: Sundae Dish, The Pioneer Woman, Walmart
    Razor: GEM Brookland
    Blade: Treet (4)
Post-Shave: After Shave Witch Hazel, Thayers

Today I wanted to see what type of lather the Electric Sheep would yield if bowl lathered. After loading the 25mm MS Synthetic brush for about 15 seconds the photo below is what I came up with.
    Electric Sheep Lather.jpg

I had enough lather after 3 passes I think someone else could have done a 3 pass shave also. Someone across the street over at TSD said this was typical of mutton tallow soap. If that is true I'm going to have look into the other mutton soaps. The only negative about this soap is the scent and I am getting used to that. Feeling up my face while I type this I find my face to be softer than with some of my other soaps. IMHO.

I recently had our resident GEM Doctor take a look at this razor for me. The diagnosis was that any issues I previously had with the razor was operator error. As this is SE September I am use this GEM till I find it's sweet spot or it skins me alive. This was also shave number 4 on the Treet blade. After 3 passes I am very smooth with some slight irritation on my lower neck just below my adams apple. The Thayers After Shave helped with the irritation though.

All in all I finished with a DFS.

Greetings everybody for SEptember! I know I've been a bit quiet lately, but that is over. Life is getting back to a more normal trajectory and all is good. In keeping with the general goings-on, I have amended to a focus, outlined above. Will probably break out the Revere Schick today with either Barbasol or Williams. Stay tuned! Welcome aboard to our new faces, you're in the right spot for learning. And welcome back to all the repeat offenders, it's always a pleasure. 91f on the prairie and the air is full of wildfire smoke. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a wonderful afternoon!

Thank you, gentlemen. It's been a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to the next several months/years of The Thread too.

I meant to ask you, Brian, did you ever manage to do something with that Puma SR with the cracked blade, or was it a lost cause and good only for display or recycling?

Yes the OCMM is a TTO. All of the MicroMatic's are TTO's.

It is that C Bomb I have to get used to. I think I may have to give PaP a try next.

I have ready most of the posts, as I am just a little constrained on time. This is the shave from this morning, which was just as smooth as I remember from last time I used this razor with a Personna Injector II blade. A nic early morning shave. I hope everyone is doing well.
