Keep on keepin on, Jim. Soon it'll all be over, and you'll sit around talking about it, and laugh and laugh.

Okay you won't, but it'll still be over.

I know that feeling. Others took the hit and Harvey was pretty well wound down when the eye passed within 30 miles of my location.

I was living on Miami Beach in '79 when an evacuation was ordered. Went inland and found a High School somewhere to spend the night. Hurricane David skipped off shore and did no damage to my apartment. Others weren't so fortunate.

    September 6

    Razor - Gem 1912
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Stirling Electric Sheep
    Brush - Semogue 620
ASOD - Aqua Velva Ice Blue

Second shave with the Gem and the first try with the Stirling Electric Sheep. This soap comes with a warning to try a sample before buying a full puck. Made with lemon, citronella and eucalyptus, this one definitely has some attitude. It is a mutton tallow soap so you do get the great aftershave feel of that. But I was a bit skeptical of the scent, which is why I used the Semogue brush instead of a synthetic.

As for the shave itself, near-BBS and quite comfortable and noisy. Alum was a bit quieter so my technique was better. No complaints. As for the soap - on first sniff of the puck I was pretty sure it was mostly citronella. Very strong scent. However, once I had loaded the brush and took another whiff I definitely picked up the citrus of the lemon. Almost an orange peel scent, actually, with the three scents apparently blending in well from the loading process. The feel of the soap is fantastic. Slick and thick just like Stirling should be and the mutton tallow adding its own special touch.

I was curious what SWMBO would do with the scent. She just kind of blinked and said "interesting" but didn't give it a thumbs down. Nor did I. Having used the Scots Pine Sheep yesterday I can honestly say I think I prefer the Electric Sheep. I'm not a huge fan of pine to begin with and, while the scent of the Scots Pine isn't bad at all, I do think I'd choose the Electric over it on most days. Since both provide the kind of lather they do I have no issue with either. But I do believe I may be a fan of the Electric. A couple more shaves will tell for sure.

For you guys in Florida and along the East Coast - I'd recommend you run, then duck. I'm a storm chaser and have always wanted to sit through a hurricane but Irma is not the one to try it with. Stay safe and stay in touch if you can. Thinking good thoughts and hoping she turns North and leaves the coast alone.

SEptember Focusing like I mean it

    Vintage Williams stick - unmolested
30 DC SE Cypress Cashmere synthetic
The Bunny V3.1 NOTSO & Chick blade
Alum, Pinaud Lilac Vegetal AS lotion

    SOTD 09062017.gif
Straight up Williams face lathered with cool tap water gave a perfect lather. I splashed my face with refreshing clear clean from the faucet hydration, rubbed the remains of my foil covered flea market found stick around, and got at it with a damp, well shook out very special brush. Couple swipes under the dribbling flow fulfilled my entire shaves lathering needs. W, A, & XTG passes plus a bit of buffing left me well shaved with the exception of the lowest of my neck. Could have taken off my tee shirt to work a little lower, but I called it done. Alum barely tingled for the sign of a job well done. A splash of heroic lilac AS allowed only to The Chosen, and available from drug stores as Édouard intended.

I shaved with the same razor yesterday that I did on Monday, the GEM Brookland and just like Tuesday, today is another day that I didn't shave. I got such a good shave from the razor that there was very little there today to shave. Looking forward to tomorrow though.

Another excellent shave this morning. I am really enjoying the Reef Point Tranquility soap which is a good thing since this is a 6 oz container. The Cobra with Proline blade just continues to rock along. For those dealing with Harvey, Forest Fires and Irma my prayers are with you guys. Take care and be safe.

    A Stirling SEptember

    Blade: Schick
    Razor: Schick G8
    Brush: Jayaruh #142 black badger
    Lather: Stirling Piacenza
Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Piacenza aftershave
    WTG, touch-up

Nice and enjoyable shave this morning. The Piacenza soap lathered easily and bountifully. Always slick and protective and overall top quality....can't go wrong with Stirling! I know there are some oddball scents but the soap base is wonderful. This scent is soap/citrus to me - really a nice combination. You smell really clean after Piacenza.

    Have a great day!

I finally decided on a focus for the month. I am going to continue with making sure I include an ATG pass in my shave routine. I find ATG to be the most difficult to do properly as it requires a different angle than the other strokes. I want to get to the point where I don't have to think about it anymore.

My shave this morning began with an "eye-opening" near disaster...a chunk of the cream(Barbasol Mtn. Blast)flew out of the can too fast, forcing me to be quick in catching it. I didn't shake the can well enough, I suppose. Well that wouldn't have been THAT bad...just scoop the chunk off the sink and proceed as normal. Shows just how "thick and rich" that Barbasol IS.
