I do a N/S, S/N, and side to side pass on every shave. The key for a comfortable ATG shave is skin stretching, and short low pressure strokes.
For SEptember, I decided to break out one of the Kamisoris I haven't used before. TSD Barber Shoppe with lanolin is up in the rotation. Scent is unique and amazing, and with the Envy White 24mm brush makes a great lather. Kamisori require a different set of grips to use, and due to thier asemetrical grinds, the angle changes when you turn them over. They were originally designed to be used by someone else, like a servant, to shave, so true Japanese style shaving would only involve one side on your face. I haven't been able to do that myself. Finished with a splash of Fone American Blend. Getting close to the end of this bottle, but I probably won't replace it.
September 7, 2017 Razor: Schick G1 w/custom handle Blade: Chick (1) Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22 Cream: KMF fragrance-free Post: Alum, Listerine, WH I've been feeling a bit guilty about not using the G1 in a while, so I decided to pull it out for today's shave. This is an early G1 (with a "Schick Injector" spring which must have been left over from the E series) and it has a narrower safety bar than my E2 and G8. As a result, it is very "blade forward" and seems aggressive. I tried to keep a light touch and watch my angle and ended up with a near BBS, but with two weepers on my chin and some lingering irritation. Maybe someone with multiple E's and G's can clear something up for me. I have (among others) an E2, G1, and G8. The E2 and G8 have very similar head geometry with regard to the depth (width?) of the safety bar while the G1 seems to have a shallower/narrower one. I'm curious... was the narrower SB introduced during the run of the E series or with the G1? Also, did it revert prior to the G8? Thanks...
I faintly remember "The Electric Company". To be honest I had to look up who E Z Reader and Fargo North, Decoder were.
Thanks, Andrew. I'd like to say I planned the lighting; but, alas, that would be untrue... Thanks, Clint. That is excellent advice. Perhaps I'll add it to a bit of my Booster as well.
Howdy all!! I haven't posted much about my shaves in a little while, and maybe that's a good thing. You know the old saying, "No news is good news". I reckon my focus this month is pressure, rather lack thereof, using DE razors. Not too long ago, I seemed to regress quite a bit in my technique - which was never solid to begin with. So, I've "dropped back" to my little lightweight Super Speed w/ aluminum handle, in favor of the Gillette Adjustables, etc. I've been keeping with one blade, Astra SPs. I've also been working on riding the cap. Things have gotten much better in the last week or so. Yeah, a few very small weepers on occasion. But, none that don't go away with a cold water splash after the shave. I'm finally getting nice close shaves without irritation and/or blood. Even my jawline, which used to give me troubles, is no longer a problem getting close. The only area which I don't always get super smooth is around the Adam's apple, even with skin stretching. Normally, it's "plenty good enough". Yesterday, while stopping into the little pharmacy at the bottom of the hill, I noticed they had one puck of Williams. Naturally, I picked it up. After watching countless videos on lathering the Williams, I thought I knew exactly how to proceed. I was wrong. Today, I did manage to whip up an enormous bowl of foam. I even tried knocking the air bubbles down. I tried more water. No matter what I did, I made more foam. Tried starting over. More foam. Since my brush was out and damp, I grabbed the Arko and got the job done! I WILL get Williams to work - even if it's only one time. Hope everyone is having a great day. I keep thinking of you all in Florida and out where the wildfires are present. Please stay safe!
I have been looking for a Type F since I got curious about why there are so many E's & G's. Very limited production run because the U.S. got into WWII and needed the metal for the war effort. When my RAD was kicking hard I was shopping DE's and straights. I passed up a few Schicks because I just didn't know. Newbie mistake. Someone asked Tom about the search for a manufacture for Bunnys. So far he hasn't found one that wouldn't push the price per unit too high. It may never happen. If I never find a Type F I can afford, I'm one of the grateful Bunny owners.
Glass, Sir. A vintage glass bottle doesn't make P&G smell like Shulton. It does add a touch of class. My mother gifted me a set of perfume funnels that I use to move my stink juice from cheap bottles to repurposed hot sauce or vintage glass.
Thank you gentlemen. I have been using Google Photo for all of my photo editing needs. I will now look at Snapseed as well.
