SOTD September 8, 2017 Fat Friday edition of a Stirling SEptember Blade: Kai Captain Mild Razor: RazoRock Black Hawk Brush: Omega 10049 boar Lather: Mitchell's Wool Fat Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave WTG, touch-up Fine shave with the Black Hawk. The Mitchell's lather was terrific. Really enjoyable shave with ease and comfort. Can't ask for much more than that. A note on Mitchell's lather - I've noticed when loading from the ceramic dish that the suds on the brush look foamy compared to other soaps. However, once taken to the face and lathered they quickly transform into beautiful, shiny, and slick lather. It's a little odd but works nonetheless. The lather on the brush simply doesn't look right but is right in the end. I don't load any differently or face lather any differently. It's a top-notch soap for me. Have a great day!
Much better shave today-no drops. And I believe I can get another shaves' worth of Stirling Mtn. Man.
8 SEptember Shave #6 on the Treet Pre-Shave: Hot Shower Brush: 28mm Faux Finest Badger, Frank Shaving(FS) Soap: Tobacco, Dirty Deeds Razor: GEM Brookland Blade: Treet (6) Post-Shave: Stetson AS Photo: Today was another great shave from the GEM Brookland. Though it was a little noisier than the last shave. I guess I still am looking for that sweet spot but the razor has now shown me its soft side versus just its teeth. I used the Dirty Deeds Tobacco scent that is not very tobaccoie. Not really sure what scent it is but I like it. The brush for today was the "Genuine Imitation" Finest Badger by Frank Shaving. It's a very dense brush with good back bone and some scratch to it. I loaded the brush for longer than I should have as I had enough lather to shave today and tomorrow. After a three pass shave I finished of with a cold water rinse and then some Stetson AS. The Wife liked the way I smelled on Wednesday so I will try it again today. At the bottom of the box that the aftershave was in I also found some Stetson aftershave balm. That is up for the next shave. I don't know if it's the razor, aftershave or both but the past two shaves have left me dolphin smooth. Even on my problem spots, under my jaw line back near my ear and under my Adams apple. A great way to start the day.
This leads to an interesting question, Perry. Can the human eye(not just yours, but that of anyone using MWF lather)SEE this transformation??
SEptember 8th Schick G4 w Chick (4) TGN Boar Stirling Bay Rum SS Thayers Chatillon Lux Gratiot League Square AS SEptember rolls on with a few more days of the '66' before I switch Injectors. Stirling product of the day is a Bay Rum SS sample. I realized it had been quite a long time since I used this soap and used the Boar to whip up a nice lather. I'm a little embarrased to write this next part. Firstly, I dropped the razor. If it was a DE, I'd have changed the blade instantly. Did I with the Injector? Nope. Took blade to face and 5 or so (stopped counting) weepers later with irritation as well. Not sure what damage was done to the blade, but it was enough. Did 3 passes. I'd put the blame ratio at about 33% Operator Error and 67% Operator Overt Stupidity. Before anyone chimes in, yes, I will change the blade for tomorrow . Finished with the Gratiot League Square and I think it pairs well with the Bay Rum. At least I got that right. Have a great day all!

8 SEptember 2017 R E D Friday Blade Focus Shave Pre: The usual nonsense Razor: GEM MMOC Blade: PAL Brush: JR#161 Soap: Route 66 "Rum Runner" by @Salty Belle Post: See previous 30DC shaves After Shave: The Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum, "As refreshing as an island breeze" Last shave of the week and as usual it was a good one! JR#161 whipped up a fantastic lather off the Route 66 "Rum Runner". The PAL blade drop off continued, but it's headed for the bin anyhow. I still managed to coax a DFS out of it. 2.5 passes with some major J hooking on my neck got it done. Splashed on some VIBR and my Friday was on. Have a great one! PS/ Got an email at 0300 from my son(it's 1600 their time). His orders for the Captain's Course came through. He'll be leaving the ROK the last week in September. The course starts in November, so he's gotta pack his stuff, take leave and be ready to PCS the first week in November. As long as Fat Boy Kim behaves, it's all good!
To be fair, I haven't used Clubman VIBR, but to me a clove smell ain't "fresh". Doc Pinaud might want to revisit his theme for the VIBR.
Great Black and White Photo Perry. The brush looks fantastic. We all have days like yours. The CL aftershave is on by 2018 buy list. Fantastic photo. Love the vintage bottle. Great photo Mark.
