Arranged a swap with Perry @PLAla and he sweetened the deal with a couple samples of Route 66 soap. Though I haven't had the pleasure of using vintage OS shave soap, this tallow based version of the Original is a very fine product. If you didn't know; top notes of orange, sage and lemon over a lightly spiced floral heart and a base of vanilla, cedarwood, frankincense, tonka and musk. It's so close to the final Shulton aftershave scent I can't tell where it's different. Great lather from a quick load with a damp cool water moistened brush. Less than a minute in a suribachi bowl for all the lather I needed tonight. If you've tried Route 66 shave soap, well...

If you have it, you don't need it. If you need it, you don't have it...

Took my three passes, had lather to spare so I buffed around chasing the little guy. Alum told me I've got The Bunny in tune, and the aftershave completed a near perfect procedure.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Normally, I'd tell everyone to have a great Monday. I hope everyone still does that...Tomorrow is the anniversary of an event so unthinkable that it came to define an age. In many ways, a day that changed the way US society functions around the edges. To those who were directly affected by the hijackings, multiple attacks, and crash on a farm in the country, may you find peace and strength as you continue to remember that fateful day. To those of you who have given your lives to enforce our laws and serve in our armed forces, you have my eternal gratitude. We've seen some hard things in our society, but even as we stand fast in the face of current natural disasters, we must never forget that sixteen years ago we were reminded that freedom has price--and that price is eternal vigilance and dedication to the rule of law. We must not let those who violently attack an open and liberal society divide us or shake our faith in each other. May we forever resist tyranny in all of its forms, both the violent and the subtle.

May God bless each one of you.

    Thanks for reading.

I am back after taking care of some family business. It will take me a while before I get back to regular posting.

    Sunday shave:

This is the first shave after I touched up this blade and while it is good enough to shave with I am disappointed the edge was not nicer.

I am hopeful by Friday things will be more or less normal at work.

Unfortunately, it has become evident that things won't be normal in the community for a while. The impact is definitely big. There are several businesses that are struggling to re-open, even if they didn't take any water. And, I am not talking about mom and pop shops. McDonald's, Panera Bread Company, Starbucks, and a few other chain type restaurants are still closed. As best as I can figure, they don't have the staff to open. People are working hard on recovery, but it will be a while. It makes me have to hug my family extra tight every time I see the results of the destruction.

A great shave to start the work week. Everything just worked well together. Three passes and minimal touch ups ended in a near perfect shave. A splash of F&C Capri and I think I am ready for the today. The biggest risk to Metro Atlanta from Irma will be falling trees and loss of power. I hope those in Florida that were in the path of Irma are in good shape.

Sixteen years ago the United States was attacked by those that would deny us the right to have an open and free society. For the those that lost loved ones and family members that day, we still remember your loss and sacrifice. We are indebted to the people and their families that have served or are serving in the war on terror. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy the benefits and responsibilities of living in such a great country.

This mornings shave I was wanting to go back to basics. I went old school and pulled out the Williams. Continuing with old school theme I grabbed the JR #180 badger and worked up a very good face lather. Did three passes with the Valet and a FHS-10 blade with two other shaves on it. While shaving I was thinking that next month is October. Is it Open Comb OCtober? If so I have this razor(the Valet) and the OCMM for OCtober. Finished off the shave with a cold water rinse and some Old School Stetson. I guess due to me thinking about next month and not about what I was doing I finished with an okay shave. That's alright though, there is always tomorrow.

Well, Irma is passed. Not so much as a tree limb down in my yard, and I never lost power. Pretty lucky I suppose! Hoping the best as well for all my TSD friends.

SEptember rolls on and pulled out the E3. It had the vintage PAL, graciously sent by @Screwtape, in it from the last time I used it in the Spring and I've no idea the # of days. Gave Stirlings a break and went with the Reserve Cool. Love everything about this soap. 3 passes and some extra neck work later I am very near BBS.
Picked up the Ice Sport for the Drug Store Cheap Stink minifocus. Never had Polo Sport, so I can't speak to the comparison as others can. Even though it listed Glycerin on the ingredients, I added more, anyway. It seems to pair well with the Cool, feels fine on the face and doesn't appear super offensive, anyway.
    Have a great day all!
