SEptember 16th PAL Injectomatic WD HM Badger Palmolive Menthol Thayers Barrister's Reserve Spice Pulled out the 'Meatgrinder' for a weekend shave. SE is the only focus I kept to this morning, no Stirling, no Drug Store Cheap Stink. Had a little airier that usual lather with the Palmolive, but still had a workable lather and went to town carefully with what is, to me, my most aggressive razor. 3 1/2 passes later, am near BBS, but do have a few miniscule weepers. Overall, not bad. Finished with the Reserve Spice as I've cycled through a bunch of Old Spicy products this week. No comparison, this is hands down the best smelling product of the bunch. Have a great weekend all!
Hearing that there may be cookies on the Dark side, I considered pulling out the straight and paying my dues on the way to SR competence. However I wasn't feeling it, and I've learned to listen to my inner voice on that decision. Good thing I did. Still getting my bearings and lacking focus after the hurricane, I used my trusty Slim to create a weeper on my chin that needed some serious time with a steptic pencil to stop it. With a Straight, that's a straight up "Filet-O-Face" experience. (Of course I woulda been a lot more careful with the straight). For the record, I'm still skeptical about the whole cookie thing.
SEptember 16 SOTD: Stirling Synthetic Brush TSD Lanolin Egyptian Spice Gem Damaskeene Stirling Unscented PSB Ogallala Bay Rum with Lime AS It looks like things are finally getting back up at work again, so I came in a little late (yes I am at work, as I am just here just in case). After over 30 hours the past two days, a little break is very welcome. I enjoyed a slower paced shave this morning, which was relaxing for me. I also got to eat breakfast with my wife and guests, so that was great as well. Hopefully, I will be ducking out in a bit. This is shaping up to be a nice Saturday. I hope everyone has a great day!
-Feather DX -Zenith Boar -Stirling Sandalwood Soap and Splash Wow. When you fall behind in this group, you are hosed. I finally got caught up this morning on the five hundred some odd posts I was behind..... Please consider my condolences, congratulations, best wishes and compliments all offered, right here. I had one of those weeks where I ate nine or ten meals in the pickup, and wasn't awake for ten minutes at the hotel after I got out of the shower. I only shaved twice all week, so this morning's was great. I am very nearly BBS, and wearing a healthy splash of Sandalwood AS. Now for more coffee.
Barbasol Floating Head Razor Feather Stainless (1) Semogue 2000 Soap Commander Love Soap with TSD M-Bomb Soap Commander Love ASB My next door neighbor is getting married today so I broke out the Barbasol with a fresh Feather for a splendid shave. Enjoy your day.
My sincere condolences. I'm very sorry to learn of your losses. My wife & I are huge pet lovers, and have also been through a number of losses. Although it still isn't ever easy, the one thing we always come back to is knowing that we gave them a good home and a good life. The losses are tough, but the happy memories are always there - and often talked about.
Funny...normally for SE month I go with vintage Ever Readys, but this year I am having a fabulous time with my favorite Schick...might make it a year instead of a month....}8^D I've also used my Hussy and Schick Simplified Automatic Repeater...all performed admirably!
Thanks, Jim. I usually take the pics at night when I put my gear out for an early morning shave. I suspect that is why they'll have similar lighting.
September 16, 2017 Razor: English Gillette Flat-Bottom New/DeFitch Handle Blade: Dorco Prime Platinum (3) Brush: 30DC LE/Pure Badger Cream: Simpsons Luxury Post: Alum, Listerine, WH One more shave with the English New before going back to SE's for the rest of the month. I decided to try it with a different blade, so I took the Dorco out of the Fatboy. Another effortless BBS with one minor weeper where I nicked the top of a pimple.
16 SEptember Pre-Shave: Hot Shower Brush: 24mm Silvertip, Frank Shaving (FS) Soap: Smolder, Blades Grim Razor: GEM 1912, (Brooklyn?) Blade: Treet (11) Post-Shave: Cold Water rinse and Clubman After Shave Lotion, Pinaud Photo: Every day is better than the last. Today's shave was better than the last as well. I picked today's soap by trying to find one that went well with the Clubman AS. They weren't a perfect match but good enough. Three pass shave left a closer shave than the day before. A couple more shaves to find the sweet spot on this razor and I think I could get just as good a shave as I get from the other GEM Brooklyn. Final opinion on the shave is, enjoyable DFS, hoping to do it again soon.
