You're right, Randy. It makes no sense. Lots of things don't. Some examples would be shaving with a DE blade taped to a finger, putting Menthol anywhere near private parts, threatening to shave with ketchup or an adult man dressing as a unicorn. Luckily this group shows uncommon restraint and resistance to such frivolity.
OK, You have a point Jason. Although you gotta admit those other ridiculous things make for better stories.
No question! I could have also added 'try to cut Jell-O with a Sayuri...' I wasn't trying to recruit anyone to join, just letting Paul know I've been thinking about it as well. So far no one thinks I'd make it, And they're probably right.
I understand the rational behind a NoBuy, but photos like this... If I have the funds when one of these becomes available, I'm buying. A Type H is also on my list. It's too soon for me to even consider a Nobuy. Maybe 2020 but no promises.
SEeptember Dual SE / Drugstore AS Focus Proraso Pelli Sensibili Sapone Omega Pro #20248 27mm boar Osaka Suribachi bowl & cool water USTURA shavette, Personna LB The Bunny V3.1, Chick blade Alum, Proraso Blu Crema Reaching for my sensitive side this evening, grabbed the O Pro 48 and whipped up a Green Tea, Oat, & Menthol lather. Some time ago I gave this, my first fat boar brush, a vinegar rinse. It softened the bristles to the point of badger-like floppiness. Lesson learned when I lost the scritch. Dropped half a Lab Blue DE blade (Thank you Perry @PLAla) into this fine SS shavette that I received in the mail but can't recall who sent it. Just like falling off a bike - got an error free WTG and set it aside. Next two passes and clean up duty fell to The Bunny. Again no errors confirmed by a sweet quiet alum pass. Gave the alcohol free Vitamin E & Aloe lotion a shake and smeared a couple dabs around. It's not BDBS, but I'm happy with DFS+. Good Shaves Y'all!
Thanks, @FaceScraper. That's always been the way I try to look at it too -- after the first few days.
A middle earth shave weekend: First up is a new entry to the den, a Joe Edson western grind kami. The handle is very grippy it looks cool and is easy to maneuver. The edge arrived nice, but not fantastic. I gave it just As for smoothness and sharpness yet I finished with an epic shave. Second up is my Rasupur western grind kami, I don't no why I waited so long between shaves with this razor. It easy to handle and the tang is very grippy. Four passes and the second epic shave in two days. It is only the second time I was able to produce epic shaves two days in a row. The edge on this razor is fantastic, very smooth and very sharp. I also used an epic brush, the monstrous Kent BK12, it is huge and its as soft as it is huge, I had enough for 10 passes. Sunday September 17 early morning -- drugstore Sunday Supply Provision Single Edge injector on two-dot plate / Personna (10) No brush Neutrogena Skin Clearing Shave Cream Neutrogena Razor Defense Post Shave Lotion I took a break today from wrestling with my new Semogue Owners Club cherry wood boar brush and with the Supply Provision soap to pay my respects to the drugstore. The result was an excellent shave. A single pass took me from a day and a half stubble to a DFS+. The Neutrogena brushless gel also has a light menthol kick to it for that refreshing tingle. I may just finish out the month with these products and see how they are in daily use. Meanwhile the SOC boar is sitting on the sink with a latherload of my Italian frankensoap drying on it. I will let it dry, rinse and repeat a few times to hasten the break in period.
Oh...y'know, later I thought's that what you may have meant. Well, I now have some of her furniture here(bedroom bureau, sofa, coffee table&end table). We're moving along in our goal of putting her house on the market by mid-late Oct. As for me, I typed out a draft of my remarks to be said at her Memorial..may want to tweak it up a bit. There are times when the fact of her being gone really hits me-other times I seem OK, meaning it's sad but I'll manage. . Thanks for asking.
I'll tell you why.....I've always prided myself on my will power-and being in here creates a real challenge to go a year without a major shave purchase. Someone wrote that I've done a lot of "window-shopping" in here, and, yes I have indeed. I see that many of us at least have the INTENT to try an annual "No Buy", thus I figured I'd give it a shot. Sorry about your bad shave day.
Well, once again I wasn't too pleased with the Williams. Dissipation-city! It reminded me of when I used to use(and haven't ruled out doing so again)my Rise Shave Gel tube-invisible upon the face, but once you work your way through the shave, you find you got the job done.
I appreciate a good challenge, understand your motivation, and applaud your efforts, Paul. I have no desire to participate, though as exploring new soaps and gear is what I enjoy. I expect a hobby to cost a few bucks, and one single trip to the range or ride on the boat costs more than a couple of new soaps. At this point I'm more about finding good stuff and trading up than acquiring more of anything. If I can trade, gift, or PIF stuff back to the community that's another part of what I enjoy. (Besides, I'm pretty sure I don't have the self discipline you do.)
September 17, 2017 OneBlade Genesis V2 Feather FHS Shavemac Silvertip D01 3 Band Reef Point Test Depth Witch Hazel with Menthol Cool Water EDT A great shave is always a good way to start a new week. I will be rotating between MW Lilac and Reef Point Test Depth for the remainder of the September and all of October in an effort to complete at least one if not both soaps. The brush for the week is the Shavemac Silvertip D01 3 band. I picked this up several years back at a fantastic price. In general I like brushes with a lot of backbone, scrub and scritch. However, this brush is about my upper limit on the scritch front. So I find I enjoy using the brush several days in a row as the scritch seems to diminish with daily use. The little Shavemac made quick work of lathering the Test Depth soap. I decided to change things up some this morning and went with an ATG pass followed by a XTG pass. This really improved the efficiency of the first pass allowing me to catch the baby with minimal touch ups. I only have a few razors that I will attempt a first pass ATG. As a rule I add menthol crystals to my witch hazel because I like the chill. So after a splash of witch hazel, I used some Cool Water EDT. I am off to visit my Mom today and take her out to lunch. It should be a great day and I get ride through the country on the motorcycle. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.
