SOTD SEptember 20, 2017 A Stirling SEptember Blade: Schick Razor: Personna injector Brush: Omega Hi synthetic Lather: Stirling Sharp Dressed Man Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Sharp Dressed Man aftershave WTG, touch-up Ahhhh......these Stirling shaves have been terrific. Such great lather and skin care. Today was no exception. Really enjoyed the Sharp Dressed Man scent. The Personna injector is a little mild but works quite well overall. Everything came together nicely after a little more touch-up than normal. Still an enjoyable shave. Enjoy your day!
Gem MicroMatic ClogPruf Gem Stainless Semogue BC Texugo Institut Karite Soap A really nice SE shave this morning. Not sure the number of shaves on the blade, but it was nice and smooth with no irritation.

What can you say about a classic that already hasn't been said? As usual the Fat provided a great platform for 2.5 passes of shaving excellence! The TREET SE blade is starting to fall off. But I still managed to get a very nice DFS. The Canoe A/S put a nice finish to an overall great shave! It's Hump Daaaay!! The weekend is in sight!
I really like this razor. Best shave of the week with three passes SRD Strop Mitchell's Wool Fat Soap TSD 30DC LE Brush Portland Razor Company Siren Lucky Tiger Chiseled Face Ghost Town Barber After Shave Have fun!
Keith, What size is the knot in your B400? It looks massive! Another amazing photo, Clint! Did you get the "old man" comment with the Floid Blue type, Jim? That is a ton of shaves on that blade, Ken! Congrats! Very nice Perry! Sill looking for a bottle of Canoe!
For today's shave - an excerpt from today's entry my Soap Review Thread. Sorry for the lack of picture. I was in a rush this morning. Today's contender out of my den is Chiseled Face. I have two scents - Santa Paula and Ghost Town Barber. Santa Paula smells exactly like the orange tree we had in our back yard when I was a kid. It's not really an "orange" scent per-se. It combines the smells of orange rind, orange tree bark, leaves, soil, etc. It smells exactly like I'm 10 again and climbing the orange tree in our backyard. If you didn't have that experience in childhood, I'm not sure what your reaction to the scent will be, but I love it. Ghost Town Barber is a tough one to describe. I didn't like it at first but it has really grown on me as a unique scent. Unfortunately, the name is probably as good a scent description as you are going to get from me. Today I chose Ghost Town Barber. This is a softer soap, so my Thater silvertip loaded up quickly and easily, and made quick work of lathering. I'd say this is a lather is midway between "thick and rich" and "thin and slick". As much as I love the "thick and rich" feeling, I usually end up watering down my soaps a bit to increase slickness, and Chiseled Face hit's the mid spot just right for me. The result was a 3 pass BBS, which required no AS (I forgot to use it), but as of this writing several hours later, I don't feel the need for one. For me, Chiseled Face is a solid keeper with good performance and unique scents. I'd put it about on par with Catie's Bubbles in my den.
SEptember 20th Schick I1 w Personna Twin Stirling Barbershop SS WD HM Badger Thayers Stirling Spice Balm P&G Old Spice AS Continuing with the I1 and Twin blades again this morning. Another excellent shave with this combo. Did a little extra on my jawline and I would call this BBS. Have a little neck irritation which comes and goes, so went with the Balm on my lower neck and Old Spice on face and jawline. Have a great day all!
Very nice Jason! you know a mixture of Stirling Spice and P&G probably comes pretty close to Shulton OS. I find that Stirling has the right powdery base but lacks the citrusy top notes and PG has the top notes but doesn't have that heavier sweet powdery base. Something to think about if you ever come across a bottle of Shulton OS.
Great description, Andrew. Thank you. Someday I'll come across a NOS Shulton bottle in some dusty corner of a small town antique shop, and yes, THAT I would break a NB for...
Out of curiosity, Brian, is the knot set at the 15mm the handle is hollowed out to, or did you put a spacer in?
Great photo and lineup. The Persona is a very cool looking razor. I believe several modern razors have used it as an inspiration. Great photo and lineup. Happy Wednesday. PRC makes some great looking razors. How many of their razors do you have in your rotation? Great photo and lineup Jason.
Thank you Clint. I didn't notice yours was black & white til Jim said something about it. Then I had to go back and look at again. Nice set up.
Williams Wednesday Shave Today's shave was brought to me by the following: Razor: Schick Paul Revere edition Brush: JR #113 Soap: Williams Blade: Supply Provision/Personna Today I started to get what I thought was a better lather from the Williams. At least it started looking decent in the mug. I wasn't just making a bunch of foam anyway. Once I began to lather my face, then it started to get foamy. I performed a little bit of "The Williams Slap" - if it isn't already a "thing", it is now! I lightly slapped the foam with the brush to knock the air bubbles down, and it did seem to help. It was a thin lather, but nice and slick. Three passes to a very smooth face! No weepers, nicks, cuts - zero drama. It was almost too easy! I always feel like I'm cheating when I use this razor! I suppose I can see why Williams is still around. I know many people like it...it is indeed slick...and it's dirt cheap. It's growing on me a little bit. I'd still like to learn how to get a proper lather from it, but the slickness is incredible. Whether or not I'd get another puck after this one is gone remains to be seen. There are just so many soaps out there, and I couldn't possibly live long enough to try them all...even if I wanted to (or could afford to!). I don't post my shaves very often (heck - it's hard to keep up just reading the posts!), but I have been using an injector a little bit this month. Mainly I'm still focusing on my DE technique, which I'm pleased to report, has gotten much better. Hopefully the bulk of my cart habits are behind me and the shaves going forward are nice & easy! Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!!!
