I love it here already! I'm new to DE shaving, but have a lot of experience with skincare. Hopefully I can learn a lot and also offer some advice too.
Greetings! That's great. Hoping to get my electric shaving husband on board as soon as I learn technique. Once he has his first BBS, he might join me, haha! Great idea about the thrift stores. I'm already feeling like I've found a new passion.
WOW! That's a gorgeous razor! Right up my alley. Love the details. What is it? Today my baby should be arriving! Can't wait to see it in person. Here's a quick video showing off the reflective sandstone handle.
It's a rabbit hole we have all fallen deep into but it is a true joey as well. I will say blades can make a huge difference but technique trumps everything. I started with and also started my wife on the razor with canned shaving cream to eliminate that variable. Once more confident work on your on shaving soap, one huge help in introducing shaving soap was the ease with which Stirling lathers. It is thirsty and takes more water than you would expect but it whips up super easy and thick. Good luck converting your husband. I could never do electric as it always tugged and was just plain uncomfortable. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
Hello! I watched a bunch of YouTube videos on people's favorite blades, and just kinda picked randomly from blades I kept hearing about. I have no idea where to start... I got this sampler and my razor will come with a Shark super chrome pack. What would you suggest be my first shave pick? Also, any advice on what blades to try after these?
Just got a delivery of TOBS rose shaving cream this morning, and Trumpers violet cream, next week! Yay! If your wife is looking for a big brush for leg shaving, I have this one on the way from maggardrazors.com .
Blades are THE most subjective aspect of wet shaving and what works for me may not work for you. Truthfully though once you start to develop your technique your blade choice will start to matter less and less. I've tried nearly every blade out there and there are only one or two that I would really care not to use ever again. Pick a blade, any blade, and use the entire pack before moving on to the next. This will give you a better understanding of the characteristics of that particular blade and will help you gain a better understanding of what quality's you like in a blade. All of the blades you listed work well for me so there aren't any that I would tell you to avoid.
Thank you but I have a close friend making her a custom one! I also started restoring vintage brushes because I love the look. As far as maggard and synthetic you did well. That brush should serve you for a long time to come! The brush In having made for her will have a 28mm maggard black and white knot.... Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
I agree with this a lot as well. I ordered a sample pack and worked way through four or five of each to start. There's only one blade that I shaved with once and pulled out and that may have just been a dud but I put away the rest of the pack and will revisit it later. Tryablade is a great website where you can order in small amounts and the prices are not terrible in my house we have really grown to love 7 oclock yellow and 7oclock green Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
