The razor he is showing you is a vintage gillette starburst in blue. There were 3 colors and the razors were marketed for women. The colors are pink, gold and blue. The long handle made it ideal for women to shave their legs. A lot of razors have been developed for women some were very short handled and were meant shave the armpits. I believe Parker makes a few razors based on the Gillette starburst and they come in a variety of colors.
Oh, wow. That's really cool. Vintage razors often have so much style. Vintage anything really, haha! I'm going to be on the hunt for that razor. You are right! I remember seeing those on Parker. Wish they had the cute little stars on them...
Focus on what you have currently. Once you learn how to use it and are confident, then you should move on to another. It's just shaving but it's a different way of shaving. It requires a different approach to it. Cartridge / disposable razors were almost error free. A DE razor and blade will and can cut very easily.
If you havent seen it riding the cap is a common term around here. When I used a cart I would literally scrape the hair off my face, the approach is quite different with a DE. Little to no pressure and a different angle then what you are used to. When I started I had the blade way too steep and was being more aggressive then I needed to be. Place the cap on what you intend to shave and rotate until the blade makes contact and you found a good starting point. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
These guys pointed me to a thread called 30 day rule, which suggests you should stick to all the same kit for 30 days at first to learn technique. It's worked great for me but I just gave that up last week to try some new razors - I got greedy and bought a few. If you're only getting the one it may not apply as much to you
This is a quote; The big difference is if you highlight a selection of someones post you can be selective about the part that appears as a quote, like this; There's also the ability to include multiple quote as Andrew @Linuxguile mentioned. Using the "@" symbol in front of a members User Name sends them a message that they were mentioned in your post. Quoting or Replying also informs them of your post. This is a reply, which simply quotes the entire post; If you wish to experiment, there is a Post Testing Area. (That is a link, using both BOLD and Italics.)
Absolutely. Don't get into the habit of checking "just to see what's on ebay". They're all so different yet most will work exceptionally well. It's hard not to consider just one more.
