Thursday September 28 just as the date slips over - being a Pal at the drugstore

Pal adjustable injector / Personna (2)
    Neutrogena Skin Clearing Shave Cream
Alum and Neutrogena Razor Defense Post Shave Lotion

As I half expected, the shave was much smoother tonight on the second outing of the blade. The Pal on its lowest setting (I assume the far-left switch position marked "L" is the lightest or lowest?) again gave me a good clean shave. One pass and a tiny bit of touchup and I am at least DFS. This is a very nice razor; I can see why people recommend it so highly.

Hope the week is treating everyone well so far.

Razor - Kai Captain Original AC
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
Soap - Route 66 Sweeney Todd
    Brush - WCS Synthetic
    ASOD - Stetson

Annnnnndddddd...we're back after whatever that interruption was earlier. Day three with the Kai pain stick and I used the West Coast brush and Route 66 for the nice lather. Had to thin the lather out a bit during the first pass as I apparently didn't add quite enough water at first. My bad. Two passes and touch up on the neck to a very nice DFS and another blood free shave from the stick. With the mild blades, though, it's a bit more difficult to draw too much blood. I may be done with the mild blades from this point on as the Captain Original or Feather Pros seem to work so much better now. I do have one of the Kai Sharpblades. That would be the equivalent of the Feather Super Pro. May have to break that one out. Aftershave for tomorrow is Stetson. Gonna cowboy up y'all!

We're only a couple of days away from OCtober - the month we usually pull out the open comb razors, for those who want to join in. I'll be using the ones I have including a new acquisition I stole on the bay the other day. Well, didn't actually "steal" it, but you know what I mean. It looked good on the website and looks even better in person. I'm pretty stoked to have gotten it. It's not the world's most valuable razor but it's pretty cool and in fantastic shape, including the box. You'll be seeing more of it during OCtober as I work it into the rotation.

Well, for whatever reason I can't upload the pictures now. So hey - we'll let it be a surprise for a bit longer until the bugs settle down around here. I will tell you - it's shiny.

This lineup works very well together delivering drama free shaves with minimal thought or effort. This morning everything worked well to provide just such a shave. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.

    A Stirling SEptember

    Blade: GEM stainless
    Razor: GEM Pushbutton
    Brush: Jayaruh #60 synthetic
    Lather: Stirling Dunshire
Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Dunshire aftershave
    WTG, touch up

Smooth and comfortable shave this morning. Nice and easy and no fuss. Great lather from the Stirling Dunshire and almost effortless beard reduction from the Pushbutton. All around nice shave. My SE technique has improved a lot over this month. Light pressure and angle are the key.....I guess that's the key for almost any razor.

    Have a great day!

Today's shave from my Soap Review Thread

Today I had the best shave I've had in a week using Sudsy Soapery. Performance wise, this one is a keeper. Good lather you can make thick or thin, and really good performance in every aspect. I don't put much weight into face feel, because it's not something I really think about in a warm, tropical climate. "My face feels fine" is usually my thought, unless a soap is particularly drying or deficient. Having said that, my face is noticeably irritation free and soft. Where I struggle a bit with this soap is scent. The scent strength is really good, but most of the scents just aren't up my alley. I had a tub of Jack Frost and traded it away because great performance wasn't enough to override a scent that just didn't do it for me. I'm not a bay rum guy, and the sandalwood mixes don't really excite me either. The scents I really do like are already represented in my den. Would I replace a Stirling Almond Cream, Cella, or TOBS Peppermint when they are done with a SS Almond Cream or SS Peppermint & Lavender? Absolutely. Do I feel an urgent need to trade these out of my den? Not really. Right now, if the scents were right it'd be among my top keepers, and will still probably make its way into my den at some point. However, it's going to go at the top of my honorable mention list for now. (By the way, the difference between a "keeper" and an "honorable mention" is a matter of personal preference more than anything. These are all good soaps)

28 SEptember 2017 Throat Punch Thursday Blade Focus Shave

This morning I pulled out "Jeff's Soap" from Cold River Soap Works.
I have to say that the scent has grown on me and the quality of the shave it delivers is first rate.
Between the slickness and the post shave face feel, I could see using this puppy everyday.
The Sputnik blade is right up there too. I'd have to say it's running neck & neck with Voskhod as far as efficiency goes. Finished up the whole shooting match with Speick for Men.
Have a great shave, have a great day!

    image.jpg
I bought the Farinik a few months ago. Used it once and then put it away until fall. Today seemed like a good time to pull it out. I got a really nice lather after a bit of work. It doesn't seem to have the same base as my other TFS soap, Mastro Miche, but still a good lather. Spicy (definitely cinnamon and others) and citrusy to my uneducated nose.
Third day in a row for the Injectomatic, first weeper. It didn't try to survive the witch hazel, let alone the AS. 3 passes plus a little neck touch up later and I am BBS. Good way to start the day.
    Have a great day all!

Good morning! Well, after the build up from last night on this new razor I've got and the letdown of pics not working here is the most overblown finish you'll ever see. The pictures of the new shiny, just in time for OCtober. I smell like a cowboy and I'm out the door!

Feather makes a stainless and a carbon that fit it. The stainless is the "Feather FHS-10" then the carbon I found on the Bay it is "Feather Seikan".
