This wasn't 80s, just something I've been messing with. It's not too fast or difficult, but sounds neat.
That's what's been missing. I've taken the advice of my jazz pianist friend, and just started to try learning music that I would listen to regardless. He gave me a pep talk that really helped get my head back in it. My teacher had bogged me down in theory a bit, but we've now refocused into more practical playing than worrying about whether I can diagram a suspended minor ninth chord or whatever...
Now you're really gonna have fun! The next step is to find someone to jam with, working on songs, especially if it's for a goal (like a live show) is really gonna motivate you.
