OCtober Focus Fun! Route 66 Barbershop Hop soap B-400 WD High Mountain badger Osaka Ceramic Suribachi bowl Gillette NEW Long Comb razor Personna Lab Blue blade (fresh) Alum, Pinaud Clubman Lotion CaptFawcett's Lavender 'Stache wax Had a job interview this morning, so I didn't do anything experimental or daring. Great lather from a top notch tallow soap, whipped up with a fine badger brush, in my favorite bowl using cool tap water. Dropped a fresh blade in, tightened down the bar handle and commenced my procedure. WTG, ATG, & XTG followed by chin buffing, G-slides, and a little neck touch ups. No blood on brass or steel. Alum confirmed with a quiet, no burn, skin tightening swipe. Applied a splash of Ed's finest and worked some wax into my lip fuzz. My DFS served it's purpose. Visited with a couple HR Ladies, the second apologizing for her location only having Seasonal positions open. She set me up to discuss with another locations HR Lady, a salaried Project Consultant position more commensurate with my skill set. Good Shaves Y'all!
October 3 Gillette Super Speed Red Tip (A3) Feather (3) Kent BK4 Silvertip C.O. Bigelow shave cream Thayers Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Trumper's Sandalwood Skin Food I had a nice, easy two-pass shave with my Red Tip Super Speed this morning. The razor was a generous gift from @Douglas Carey, and I always enjoy using it. I find that a Feather blade pairs well with this razor. First pass was WTG (face)/ATG (neck), and the second pass was ATG everywhere. That's my usual routine, and it seems to work well for me. My trusty Kent BK4 brush whipped up a ton of mentholated lather. C.O. Bigelow (aka Proraso) was one of the first shaving creams I ever used, and it's still one of my favorites. It lathers like a champ, smells great, and the price is right! I'm using a sample freebie container of Trumper's Sandalwood skin food that I picked up from the store in London earlier this year. I have Coral skin food, but I like the Sandalwood scent much better. I've been in and out over the past few weeks. It's great to see some new folks participating the in the 30DC. Hopefully, @NCoxSTL has continued to sing the praises of Feather blades while I was away. Happy Tuesday!
Randy, the bowl is stainless steel, but the contents ain't shaving cream. I couldn't resist including one of my favorites from The Far Side...
I thought it was just a menthol chill, Charlie. Now it's all starting to make sense. By the way, my Dad bought me a coffee mug with that cartoon on it. It's in my office.
Thanks! The wood panel is a wall decoration in the bathroom. I grab one every now and then to avoid a million photos of my countertop.
Do the AC blades count? If so then I've been a proper fanboy. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
My focus this month is to make full rotations with all of my soaps yesterday was Proraso Green today is DR Harris Marlborough with Fine L'Orange Noir. This is an excellent pairing of scents and DR Harris is an excellent soap. Sent from my XT1710-02 using Tapatalk
Thanks for the inspiration. I’m going to join you in a soap focus. I have some that are gathering dust that I need to try again.
Thanks Charlie. Your prayers are much appreciated. The major service is this Sunday. I'm one of the "eulogizers".
Thanks for the positive energy, fellow 30 Day Crew members. The great thing about a job like this is I enjoy doing it so it's not like work. I'll visit with the second HR department tomorrow. I'm thinking after 9 AM so folks will be awake, but before 11 so they won't be thinking about lunch yet. What they don't know is while they are interviewing me, I'll be doing the same to them. How I feel about this prospective job... (Hint; I'm Ron Swanson, not the guy in the red vest)
OCtober!!! October 3 Razor - 1918 Gillette Old Style Blade - (3) Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat Brush - Jayaruh #46 Post - Alum Tuesday shave extravaganza! It's head shave night and the Merkur 23c and Arko made quick work of that with a new Astra SP blade. After last week's run with the pain stick this week's head shave seemed to take only an instant. I love the way the pain stick works on my head but I do take longer with it. On to the main event with the Old Style and Voskhod for the third night. MWF still for the soap and I grabbed the JR46 with Maggard synthetic knot. I soaked the puck while I was doing my head shave, then dipped the brush into the mug for just a couple of seconds. Shook it out so that it was barely damp then loaded from the puck. Perfect load and the lather when I went to my face was absolutely perfect MWF lather. There you go. There's the secret to synthetics with the Fat. I had enough lather to do four or five passes but only used three to get the BBS and no issues with blood or any other problems. Alum was quite pleasant. Best shave of the three and a great way to continue into OCtober. On to a new razor tomorrow night. Still debating which one.
