I rehandled my Shavemac finest silver tip with ivory colored cast acrylic and a band of faux tortise. Dropped the loft a bit. Nice shave this morning. The razor was touched up with a carborundum razor hone and a natural stone of unknown origin (guessing a Arkansas of some type). Have a good one.

    Hi Spyder
Sounds like you are enjoying your vacation.Shaving outdoors at 35 degrees. Now you know how the G.I.'s in the field felt when they had to shave to be ready for inspection.

W.Greaves Washington Razor Tapered blade about 6/8 to 4/8 plus. She is not my prettiest straight .She has had some use .But from a functional stand point its in my top ten that I like to shave with .I love the weight and quality of the steel .Removes whiskers without almost any effort. The taper make it easy yo get into tough places .She also has double jimps which helps if my hands get wet.I honed her on a Beligian Couticle and that made the edge buttery smooth.

Sharp looking razor. Blade looks very much like mine but my scales are all black.

Had to correct the geometry on this new Gold Dollar before I could hone it. But it came out really nice and gave a nice, comfortable shave.

Interesting. That looks like one of those "New" more expensive model Gold Dollars. I was under the impression GD had corrected their heel issues, according to GD advertising. Can you give us your initial impression of this razor, and modifications needing to be done by you???

It is the more expensive one ($16 on Amazon). The blade had a tiny bit of "wobble" when I performed the "Tap" test. So there was a tiny bit of correction that needed to be done. If you look at the picture; you can see the area up on the spine towards the heel had to be ground down, to make honing easier (for me). Otherwise, the scales are a nice wood and the blade has a nice breadth and weight to it. It took on a very nice edge and provided me with one of my nicest shaves so far. Not closest but most comfortable.

Today's shave was with a nice German blade. I had a super smooth, 2 pass shave, that left me BBS. Excellent razor. The soap was another story. I had issues with this brand before, and contacted the maker. She sent me some samples of other soaps she had. Not impressed. No burning this time, but the Lather dissipated quickly, and the lubricity was adequate to lacking. The lubricity dissipated, the longer the lather was on the face. I tested it. I'm unsure what scent I was given, all it said was Stearic Acid. My guess would be a Sandalwood to a Barbershop scent.

    Razor- J.A.Henckel
    Brush- Stirling Boar
Soap- Village Soap Smith. Barbershop/Sandalwood?? I'm just guessing.
