Great looking razor, Bob. I really like that brush handle. I have large hands so I got to get me something like that.

A razor I've not heard of before. The oval shaped blades are a curiosity. I wonder how they performed in comparison with the blades we're familiar with?

Thank you sir! shaving soap is the reason I started wet shaving, so many great artisans out there these days. Many of my favorite soaps are ones that don't get the love they deserve, hidden gems in other words.

No clue. I will note they probably were decent as this razor and blade configuration was on offer for 15-20 years or more, first in France c.1910 but later in the UK where a patent was obtained in 1925. The patent claim was not that the shape of the blade improved performance but that it improved longevity of the blade. [IMG]

    Pre-shave: Warm towel & pre-shave oil
Shave Cream: Every Man Jack Sensitive Fragrance Free Shave Cream (ended up adding some Cremo Original Shave Cream)
    Brush: Omega Synthetic Hi-Brush
Razor: vintage Probak 3 piece OC
    Blade: Wilkinson-Sword (3)
Post-shave: Dickinson WH, Every Man Jack Signature Mint Post-Shave lotion, Jovan Musk AS / Cologne

I chose to use the Every Man Jack Shave Cream since I had not used it for a long time. Normally, I just apply it by hand and it works well. I decided to experiment and try to bowl lather it with a brush, but I probably should have just applied it to my face by hand. Not wanting to give up so easily, I added some Cremo Original and managed some lather build up, which I applied to my face with the brush. I liked the mixture in that it felt very nice on the skin and it was very slick. I also like the citrusy scent the Cremo Original has. Neverthess, I could've just saved some time and applied either cream by hand and gotten the same result.

However, the main goal for today's shave was to try out, for the first time, the Probak 3 piece OC razor I picked up at an antique store in August. I'm not sure why it took so long to get to this point. This razor is in excellent shape. I started out slowly, but became so confident with it quickly. This is an amazing razor! I got a very close, comfortable shave throughout, even for my trouble spots on the neck.

Have a great day, gents and ladies!

I never knew about the Faena Rodon. Does it also come in a shaving soap? I'm very curious about all these Faena soaps. :)

My friend Jeff, it used to come in a shaving soap. I had it but sent it to a friend from the States. Nice soap. It also contained lanolin. I really don't know what's going on anymore with their product line and all these reformulations and changes. They like experimenting I guess. Even this lotion is now discontinued. I can't comment on their current tallow formulation. They're a bit overpriced in my honest opinion. More expensive than B&M and CRSW, for example. But I guess they deserve a try, like most artisan shaving soaps.

Bic Astor blades are the only blades I can find at any market here in Greece, but to be honest I don't like them. I find them a bit rough. Yellows perform a bit better to me. Both are made in Greece. Among Greek wet shavers, Astor are the least popular yet the most iconic shaving brand to date. Strange.

Are the Bic Yellows you mentioned the Bic Chrome Platinums?

Exactly. While they're made here, they're not widely available and I don't know why.

Another fellow Greek on here, @Kypros Christodoulides , who lives in Cyprus, mentioned he hasn't seen any there himself. I myself think they are very good blades, one of my favorites, and considering they are made in Greece, why aren't they available.

Happy Birthday. The photo struck me as one of the neatest, yet well stated. Simple and eye pleasing. Good job. God Bless, Bill

I remember very well when I was living in Greece, I very much enjoyed the Kolynos shaving cream. I think I was the only one from all my group of friends who used it. Nobody else I knew liked it. I think I was also the only traditional wetshaver out of all of us!

I am afraid Kolynos is now discontinued. I may find one or two here and there, but that's it. I didn't like it either, the scent reminded me of pesticide, but still have it in my closet along with my other creams. It's sad to see another iconic brand gone. The same with some if not all Prosar products. I could find them almost everywhere, but not anymore... I don't know what to say.
