    Thursday Shave:

The Kent BK12 is monster plus I over loaded it with CF, I had enough for at least 10 passes. This brush would be a joke due to its size but it is giant soft cloud. The edge was wonderful today Super smooth and very sharp. Nailed an epic shave. :happy036:

    October 4

Razor - Gillette New LC Delta Echo Raffle Winner
    Blade - feather-yellow-box.jpg (1)
    Soap - Soap Commander Courage
    Brush - Stirling Synthetic
    Post - Alum

After being asked earlier if I preferred the Old Type or the New, I decided to use the New LC the next three shaves. I had great shaves from the OT and Voskhod, so let's just compare. The New isn't as aggressive as the OT so I also decided to throw a bone to the Yakuza (and to pay respects to Charlie) and load up a Feather. Sharp blade, medium aggressive razor, should be a good match.

The Stirling synthetic brush is nice and big and made quick work of loading the Soap Commander. Got a great slick and cushy lather and went to work. I used the same basic approach with this setup as I did the OT. Ride the cap and let the razor do the work. Two passes and some neck touch up and I have a very nice DFS in the house. One minor nick on my right neck but nothing to write home about. Overall a great shave and the alum was only stinging in a couple of minor spots in addition to the nick. Smooth and effective are the words that come to mind.

I find the Wolfman OC standard gap razor to be a great combination of efficiency and smoothness which delivered a great shave this morning. The little Rover loaded an lathered the Jeff's Soap easily. I enjoyed the scrub during face lathering. I decided to stick with a traditional three pass shave paying attention to my trouble spots and skin stretching. With minimal touch ups and an additional 1/4 pass on my lower right neck, I caught the baby. A splash of Floid Blue and I am off for the day. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.

    SOTD October 5, 2017

    Prep: Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick
    Razor: Schick M adjustable injector
    Brush: Surrey reknot badger
    Lather: Wilkinson Sword shave stick
Post: Witch hazel, Pitralon Classic aftershave
    WTG, touch up

Back to the shave stick focus today. Today's lather and experience with a shave stick was the best yet. The Wilkinson Sword has a subtle and clean scent and rubbed on easily. I took the semi-wet badger brush and pushed it down all around my upper face which activated the lather some. Then I dipped the tips and began to vigorously face lather. Some terrific lather ensued. It was slick and protective and well hydrated. The Schick M on setting 7 took down the whiskers easily and a nice shave was had overall. I enjoyed the shave stick today and think that less is more as far as what you need when you initially rub it on. I'll continue to experiment and hone the technique over this month.

Edit: I've also been using Stirling pre-shave soap before each shave the past few days. I'm adding it to my routine to see if I like it or not. So far I can't tell any difference. I enjoy using it pretty well and like the subtle menthol touch but can't discern any improvement from the shaves with it versus without. I'll continue to experiment.

I hope you have a great Thursday!

    OCtober 5 SOTD:

    Razorock Plissoft Brush
    Stirling Bay Rum SS
    Gillette Tuckaway
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Clubman VI Bay Rum

I had a better shave with this razor this morning. I took a bit more time and focused on riding the cap. After two passes, I am a DFS. The VI Bay Rum helped put a nice finish on this shave.

I am waiting on the LSU campus for a full day of interviews. Nothing makes you feel old like walking around a bunch of people looking to enter the workforce but who look about as old as your own kids. I hope everyone has a great day!

Beautiful New. There must be a big variance in Old Types. Mine was so mild as to be almost unusable. Much more mild and inefficient that my New LC.

Great picture Perry. I found the preshave soap routine didn't really improve the shave for me.

Great picture Jim. Have fun and enjoy the day. Don't think of it as feeling old but feeling wise.
