CREAM: Barbasol - Sensitive Skin (orange accent label)
POST SHAVE: hot water rinse
AFTER SHAVE: Master Bay Rum
AFTER SHAVE BALM: None needed

Just picked up this FRESH can of Barbasol! I haven't used this fine cream in years.
Deliberately avoided any pre-shave treatments to expose the true nature of the Barbasol.

Got an EXCELLENT 3 pass BBS shave - no touchups required.
The cream provided good slickness, firm body, nice glide, and superior cushion. The scent has a very nice woody note - maybe sandalwood?

Yesterday I used a generic canned cream marked sensitive skin. It performed well - with the additional application of a shea based pre-shave.
The Barbasol cream is worlds better than that generic cream.

Guess I am a prime candidate for the Barbasol Brotherhood.

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Mitchell's Wool Fat face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #224 synthetic brush. I did the first pass with my Fredrick Reynolds 5/8 straight and clean up with the Gillette New Improved and Gillette Silver Blue blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

 

Tonight's shave was with a nice True Wedge razor. I had a fantastic 2 pass shave, with BBS result. Great shave, except for the soap issues. Great razor.

Razor- "Spike", by Union Cutlery. True wedge.
Brush- Stirling Boar
Soap- The Village Soap Smith, Eucalyptus & Mint. Not a fan.
Aftershave- Avon Spicy

Tonight's shave was truly remarkable. This open comb tto was very reasonably priced, nicely made, and performs. The only slight complaint it's the lack of some type of knob on the end, other than that, iut is a very nice razor for a modern de. While it's not for the upscale sport shaver class, it does deliver a very close comfortable shave.
Sara's made nice rich slick lather, and the vintage Badger-lon applyed it nicely. Overall I got an A-1 shave at a bargain price.
Hope y'all did as well, or better.

Nice shots from the UP. My wife and I usually go mid-Oct for the fall colors and celebrate our anniversary - at least to Mackinaw. How were the colors?

JAMIE'S NIGHT SHAVE...
1. PAA CUBE Menthol Pre Shave Soap.
2. Crown King Black Bot Soap.
3. Whipped Dog 30mm Boar.
4. West Coast Shaving Handle - Cheap China DE head from Ebay - one side O.C. other side closed - Cost $6.10 free delivery - came with handle that was defective and did not fit and was loose, so at least the head was worth it and its rather aggressive.
5. Alum - Crown King black bot After Shave/Cologne - Crown King black bot a.s. balm
6. A splash of original black belt after shave to finish it off! Smelling musky and vintage now.

Third shave on the Feather and again a smooth shave. I have to be honest and say I don't notice a great deal of difference between the Feather and Voskhod anymore. I'd like to think it's technique that makes them nearly equal. Both are excellent blades, both sharp, and while the Feather may be a touch sharper I'm getting nothing but smooth shaves with little irritation anymore. Of course, the New LC may help with that as well.

The Tuxedo knot in the LE brush is a lather monster. Seems to hold water a bit more than the other two synths I have, but that's not a bad thing. Seriously, fastest lather I've made with Soap Commander. Great slick and cushy lather that really made the shave feel great.

Tomorrow we take a short break for a bit of fun. I'm working on a special item even as we speak. Something that came up over at the favorite gear thread. Not sure I can pull it off but I'm trying. I hate to disappoint my fans. Both of you deserve my best efforts!

 

They are just coming into their own now. A cold front came in Wednesday and they’re starting to turn in earnest.
