October 8, 2017 Razor: Gillette New LC Blade: Dorco STD-301(4) Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22 Soap: Williams + KMF fragrance-free Post: Alum, Listerine, WH I had a bit of latitude with today's shave and broke out the New LC. Out of curiosity, I swapped over the Dollar Store Dorco blade which I had been using in the English Flat Bottom New. This gave me my first comparison of how the two razors perform. Superlather was courtesy of William and KMF. Impressions... The New LC is definitely the more aggressive of the two razors but not by all that much. The real difference seems to be a bit more blade feel from the New LC. By comparison, the Flat Bottom New seems to draw more from the changes made for the Tech. Both, however, are excellent razors. Two passes to an issue-free BBS, including a totally quite Alum. BTW, the New LC clamps the overly thin Dorco blade sufficiently to let it perform its best.
Razor: Blackbird OC Delta Echo Razor Finish Blade: Personna Tungsten 74 (1) Brush: 30 Day Crew w/ LS 2 Band Soap: Cold River Soap Works Jeff's Soap A/S: Folsom & Co. Shambala
8 OCtober Pre-Shave: Hot Shower Brush: 25mm Maseto Shaving(MS) Synthetic Soap: Smolder Shave Stick(homemade), Blades Grim Razor: Valet VC2, Autostrop Blade: Feather FAS-10 Carbon Steel(CS), Feather Seikan (6) Post-Shave: Cold Water rinse and OSMA Alum block Photo: Today was a lazy Sunday morning shave. At first I was going to skip this mornings shave but after my shower I looked in the mirror and thought way not. With very little stubble and no prep I chose the MS synthetic and a soft soap. I did two passes using short strokes that left me with another DFS. It's been about 8hrs since my shave and I can now see that I need to pay more attention to the area behind my jaw and below my ears. With this razor and blade combo, I didn't think I can achieve a BBS but I'm okay with a DFS though. The Wife was making jokes about my after shave last week so I finished off today with just the Alum block as we were planning on spending the day together. Not having any issues with the blade as of yet so the blade is up again for tomorrows shave.
Beautiful fall setting and photo Doug. Delta Echo did a great job on the razor. Wonderful photo. What do you think of the brush? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thank you Clint. I'm taking lessons from you and @Douglas Carey. You two are the teacher I am just the student. I really like the brush. I would buy it again and not think twice about it. I only have two synthetic brushes: Fank Shaving and the Maseto Shaving I used today. The MS is the much softer brush.
That reminds me of a time we were all traveling out to start a job in North Dakota. A bunch of us were setting up campers when a buddy of mine who had been working in Michigan and I hadn’t seen in over a year pulled in and started leveling his camper. A bunch of us were drinking beer around a picnic table, and I walked over to my buddy to see if he was coming over for one or six. He looked at me and said, “Jared, I haven’t been home in six months. I’m just dropping the camper and running home for the weekend.” He reached into his pickup and came up with a box of roses in one hand and a can of ether in the other. “Easy way or the hard way, I am getting lucky tonight.” **Disclaimer: Every operator on the pipeline carries ether in his pickup.
Great layout, Doug. That river stays pretty gnarly all year long, huh? It is fun to follow your pics as the seasons change.
