Great group of photos Jared. Wow. Very cool looking Kami. Great lineup Perry. I am equally impressed with CO Bigelow cream Great photo. PRC makes some gorgeous razors. What do you think of the St John's Bay Rum? Fantastic photo Mark. Great photo and lineup.
Thanks. I like it a lot as it isn’t heavy on clove. It’s the Bay Rum my dad wore when I was a kid and it brings back pleasant memories.
Thank you Brian. I am not a fan of clove heavy scents so this one will replace Captain's Choice when it is gone.
Well, I did it again. For the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, I was scheduled on call for the weekend from 1800 Friday to 0930 Monday. I didn't take time either to shave or to read the Thread. This morning I had 9 pages of posts to catch up on before doing my shave. It's taken me an hour. Now the marathon is over, I will go shave off the multi-day stubble, post, and then go to bed... Now that my driver's license renewal photo is done (and turned out not too badly), I can risk cuts and weepers, so I think I will start my personal OC OCtober today with a shave from a Gillette Old Type. I believe it's a Single Ring but it has the '04 patent date on it but no datable serial number for some reason. Later...
OCtober 9 SOTD: Razorock Plissoft Brush Stirling Cool Gillette New LC Stirling Unscented PSB Kramperts Finest Frostbite AS A nice shave you start my week this morning. I am on a shuttle to the airport as I am heading out to California one more time. This should be my last trip for a while. I hope everyone has a great day.
Monday morning October 9 - finally OCtober Brickell Face Scrub Gillette Old Type Single Ring / Topaz Platinum (1) 30DC LE Maple Cashmere synthetic brush My Red Green Duct Tape Special frankensoap Alum and Clubman VIBR My Italian soft almond frankensoap is Cella mixed together mostly with the slightly harder but still soft and putty-like Vitos Red and Green label soaps. it always dishes up a reliable lather, especially when worked by the 30DC LE brush. Today was no exception. The Single Ring has a lot of blade presence and feels ready to bite at any moment. I kept the pressure light by holding the razor with my fingertips at the end of the handle, stayed conscious of riding the cap, and concentrated on serious skin stretching with my offhand. The net result was two passes from a stubblefield to smooth skin with no blood and only mild warmth from the alum in a couple places. I skipped the witch hazel and went straight to the splash. The alcohol in the VIBR provided a mild burn but nothing drastic or longlasting. I am not dolphin smooth today but am prepared to call my result a workable BBS. Overall my first OC shave of the month has gotten my week off to a fine start!
Ummmmmm....... NO. Just a duplicate scent of two good soaps. Is this the first step towards soap hoarding?
Great photo Jim. Have a safe and productive trip. Great photo and lineup. I shoot for a workable BBS most days. My nemesis better know as my lower right neck prevents a perfect BBS most days.
Naw, that's proper back-stocking of necessary supplies. I don't consider it hoarding until you have multiple backups of multiple duplicate scents of currently available products. Discontinued products require back-stocking if you can afford or find them. I'm skating the edge with two bottles of Shulton Old Spice AS.
OCtober Menthol Monday Cremo Cooling Shave Cream 30 DC LE Cashmere Synthetic Osaka Ceramic Suribachi bowl Gillette NEW Long Comb Personna Lab Blue blade Alum, Fine Snake Bite Many times I use Cremo to enhance lather. Today I went straight up with the Cooling Option. Lather went from a little goopy and dry to just short of runny. Fine tuning easy as too much product -> too much water. The old DE performed well with no errors in three plus cleanup passes. Zooming in on the image I see green verdigris between the teeth of the razor base. Guess toothbrush action doesn't reach there. Might try floss next. Alum sparkled a little. Spray sample of Snake Bite got my attention, especially on my lips. This is a no nonsense menthol product. Good Shaves Y'all!
OCtober 9, 2017 Timeless OC 0.95mm with Triad Ti Aristocrat Feather Rudy Vey Rover with TGN Finest CRSW Jeff’s Soap Floid Blue The RV Rover made quick work of whipping up the Jeff’s Soap into a rich slick lather. Even though I was running a little behind schedule, I decided to go with a traditional 3 pass shave followed by minimal touch ups. My lower right neck, aka “my nemesis” kept me from catching the baby. A splash of Floid Blue proved to be a great way to end the shave. I hope everyone has a great Monday.
