Andrew, congrats on picking up a nice looking Jayaruh brush! I always know it's Friday when I see the handsome little 30DC man! You and your Bride are definitely blessed!
OCtober!!! October 20 Razor - Matthew the Haunted New Deluxe SC Blade - (4) Pre-shave - Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap Soap - Stirling Electric Sheep Brush - 30 DC LE Post - Alum I extended this setup for one additional night mostly because I got started late and just decided it was good enough to go again. Besides, the 30DC LE brush got bumped last night in favor of the JR54 so it needed its turn. Voskhod easily goes 4+ shaves so no worries there. The Tuxedo knot in the LE brush is excellent in its own right and whipped up a great Electric Sheep lather on top of the pre-shave. I started to switch out to Scots Pine Sheep just for a slight change but once I gave it a sniff I put it down in favor of the high voltage mutton. Nothing wrong with it, I just prefer the Electric. Two passes and touch ups and it's a very near BBS. I didn't work at it quite as much as the previous three shaves but still got very close to the baby. The NEW Deluxe SC and Voskhod are an awesome combo. Tomorrow - it's time for a couple of days of some challenging shaves. I'll take on @BearCWY 's challenge tomorrow night. Depending how that goes I may give it two nights. Following his challenge I'll be on to the Durham Duplex razor or razors. With a slight twist. Hope your weekend is a great one!
I'm not sure if Tom @twhite gets aggravated with me dropping his name all around TSD... Somewhere on the site he documented doing a powder coat on a 3pc Gillette. Red & black razor that Jim @Jayaruh used recently? One of those guys might have some insight into weather or not razor internals get coated.
OCtober not far from home Focus Strop Shoppe S.E. London Morning Ocean brush with vintage boar knot A paper bowl that didn't last long Fatip Piccolo & Feather H-S blade Alum, Barbasol Pacific Rush AS My folks went off for a couple of days, so I'm staying at their home caring for their three wiener dogs and the big orange cat. Travel Shave! Loaded the old German brush with discontinued soap from a defunct manufacturer. I didn't bring my ceramic bowl, so a paper one filled in. For almost the whole lather. It kind of gave out at the end. Three piece open comb and a fresh blade made comfortable reduction of my not quite every other day stubble. Alum was as quiet as the country side. Having no idea what scents went into the soap, I had sniffed and found the recently discontinued Barbasol complimented it's notes. Good shaves Y'all!
Beautiful set of Before and After photos, Charlie ... Pardon me, I meant Gaston... In fact, it was seeing some testimonial shots on TSD including yours that convinced me to have mine done by Delta Echo in the first place. As I understand it, Delta Echo disassembles the razor into its component parts as far as it will go and cleans and polishes it before applying the coating. I believe the coating is then applied as a fine pressurized spray paint designed to reach all exposed parts of an item, so it should coat the internals even deeper as long as there is an opening to them. The coating gets its strength by being baked in place. If you can disassemble the razor enough to look into a part to see if there is any vintage finish there, Delta Echo probably already disassembled it at least that far and got in deeper with the spray finish...
Saturday shave: Shaved a few hours later than usual and that usual leads to a nicer shave, today was no exception. The lather was very very wet and slick. The edge very smooth and still sharp despite have allot of shaves on it. Four passes to an epic shave, have a great weekend everyone. Irritation A+ Closeness A+ Smoothness A+ Sharpness A Razor: Brian Brown 7/8 Strop: Mastro Livi Brush: Romero Pre: Nivea Soap: R66 AS: Razorock Tight Buns Scent: Creed Green Irish Tweed
Sunday Shave Plan: Leaving on a jet plane tomorrow and I am getting up early. It will be a long flight so I am posing my shave 'plan.' R41 with Iridium Super (2), 30DC LE brush, QCS cream and Houbigant Fogère Royal
Thanks, everyone. All the surfaces on my NEW LC appear to be coated, although it doesn't really have any internal parts. After months of use, the coating has even held up perfectly on the threaded pieces. The main reason I'm curious is that I didn't know whether to clean a 'new to me' adjustable razor in my ultrasonic cleaner before sending it to Delta Echo or whether their process addresses the internals. Out of curiosity, I will inquire with them directly.
