Do a search for "Weishi classic C razor" and you will see a couple of vendors. I don't think we can post live auctions on here. It's the 9306C
I found it on Amazon. Hmm... for $15, I could see this in my rotation. I have the short handle weishi in my line up. It was my first DE.
Anyone know why the Black weighs more than the silver? I know the black one (9306C) is brass. What's the silver made of? Aluminum maybe? The silver was an eBay score with no box.
That's what someone said on page 1 of this thread as well. But then he equated that with brass. So I'm still not sure why the two razors do not weigh the same-unless it is the plating on the black one? The black one definitely feels more substantial and solid.
I was just checking out two different sites about the weight of the chrome razor. I got two different results, 2.25 oz. and 2.1 oz., so who knows.......
I'm not in touch with current SuperSpeed prices really, but $15 - $20 bought you a nice SS a few years back. Think I bought (and sold) mine for €15.
I have 9 Super Speeeds - 40s through the 70s. Wanted to mix it up a bit ;-) You won't find a good SS for $15 anymore, but hopefully that will change with the price drops on the Bay that we have seen recently. Only time will tell wether or not this Weshi is still around in 40 years, but initial thoughts are that is is every bit the razor that my flair tips are. But just like the JD Powers Initial Quality Awards - this opinion is meaningless if the razor (or car), can't go 200,000 miles without major issues.
After some research, some Weishi razors appear to have aluminum handles and others have brass. Now I can sleep.
Pretty much, unless its something a little more rare like a no-notched 1947 the max I will list a Super Speed for is $15. And those are the pristine, new looking ones.
Knox, That is a real BEAUTY! I must admit, I have a thing for the gunmetal finishes, especially if they are a deep, rich, shiny black. Great find! Thanks for sharing the pics. I have an earlier Weishi, and though it is not here with me now, I am pretty sure it has the aluminum handle.
