So what is everyone’s opinion on Sterling Noir (Drakkar Noir) and Blu ( Polo Blue) ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
First use and impression of the Agar soap. Performance is awesome as with all Stirling soaps. Lather/cushion was easy to achieve, slickness and protection is an A+. Scent...I don’t really know what this smells like and I am terrible at describing but this is a perfect blend that is both long lasting and light hints of being in woods on a rainy day. I can’t wait for a balm and splash in this scent. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm seriously considering ordering the Noir before years' end(soap and A.S. together)., but haven't yet fully decided. Only a handful of reviews on the websiite(for the A.S.)is a bit surprising to me. I once got a free sniff of Drakkar Noir off of a page of a Men's Health Magazine, and thought it to be quite nice, sophisticated. Polo scents appear to be more for the younger adult sect, but I hope I'm wrong about that.
I had a very good, icy-cold BBS shave with the Frozen Tundra this morning. The scent in some ways reminds me of the Glacial Wintergreen.
I'm slowly getting used to the chill of Wintergreen. Therefore, perhaps I can see the day when I don't react as follows: "YEEEEEEEEOWWWWWWWWMAAANNNN".
Rod made a post on Facebook about some changes he's considering for bath soaps. He also wants feedback on the latest version of Agar. But, as far as bath soaps, I've seen a lot of people say that Stirling bath soaps last a long time. The samples I've had in orders last about three showers. I bought a full bar of Arkadia (great scent!) but it only lasted a few showers. Some people were remarking that a Stirling bath soap lasted three or four weeks! Maybe they aren't using a lot of soap?!?! Anyway, he's thinking of making the bath soaps in a triple milled formulation so that they are harder and will last longer. He's also thinking of getting rid of the biodegradable shrink wrap in lieu of boxes. He's looking for feedback on those changes. If you use Stirling bath soap how long does it last?
I began using them in the shower, but they didn't quite "blend"in with my wash rag. so I now use them as hand soaps at the sink. Thus, I probably can't qualify to answer Doc Ezlovan in a way that would help him and Stoylin. The regular-sized ones do last me a long time, but not quite the way they are intended.
I always forget about the body soap. I guess I really am Stirling exclusive! I use the body soap and it lasts at least 4 weeks. I've not marked notches on a calendar, but I will. I just opened Mountain Man today. The samples I have last far longer than 3 showers. You running that soap against a cheese grater, PLAla?
I finished my puck at the end of last year. I like Barbershop so much, I considered trying another brand. My brother gave me a sample of Ghost Town Barber by Chiseled Face. I like the Stirling better and have some in a box on the way in now. I try to leave the Stirling nest but the quality of their products just make it so darn hard.
You say you like Stirling's Barbershop better(I certainly like mine), but....what did you think of the Ghost Town from CF?
I hear you, bro. I can't imagine myself without Stirling now - in fact I can't believe it took me until 2013 to discover this wonderful stuff. A good friend of mine here was the one who introduced me to Stirling by sending me two soaps. One was the original Glacial which was absolutely nothing like any of the present day versions, and a puck of the MITA.
Not sure if switching to a triple milled process is necessary, but I average about a month with daily shower use (Stirling Gentleman, Pumpkin Spice, etc.).
I will add a disclaimer. I lather a rag to wash and get a good month easy. However SWMBO just uses the bar to lather and her soap goes quicker than mine. We've been using stirling bath soaps exclusively for a couple of years now. I will say I can get about 9 or 10 showers out of a sample where as my wife only gets 3 or 4. So, usage and technique may be a factor.
