OCtober!!! October 24 Razor - Gillette NEW LC Delta Echo Blade - (2) Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat Brush - 30DC LE Post - Alum Using this combo makes it very easy to write a shave report. Here it is in one word. Superb. Or, how about.......incredible. Perfect. BBS. Spectacular. Well, you get the idea. I have to give at least partial credit to the Sharp Star blade. Finest NOS blade on the planet. And the New LC with MWF from the LE brush - it's a lot of initials that all spell WOW! Have a great day!
We could soften the fruitcake up by soaking it in the Veg. At least it would smell wonderful that way. Terrible waste of an awesome after shave though.
I just repeated the joke. It's like every other food. Some are good, some are awful. But, bad fruitcake is really bad....
I think it is likely that those candied cherries in many fruitcakes are secretly marinated in the Veg. That would explain the colour, the taste and the longevity. edit- I see Neal just came up with a similar joke. Great minds...
If you could tell us what good fruitcake is, I would consider stop using that as an excellent example of an oxymoron.
I can't speak to others, but the longevity of my Grandmothers fruitcake was due to copious amounts of bourbon.
Yes, a homemade fruitcake soaked in some sort of alcoholic beverage can be very good. Although apparently you need to control the amount of alcohol. I remember my Dad being really excited when I was around 7 or 8 because someone had made a homemade fruitcake and he soaked it in brandy. Lots of brandy. As in....I think it was an explosive hazard once he stopped soaking it. I only got to taste a tiny piece of it because I was deemed too young to be drunk from cake.
My grandmother would bake cakes at thanksgiving time and keep them wrapped in a tea towel and stored in a tin. Every few days she would open the top and use a spray bottle full of bourbon to soak it. This went on till Christmas, at which time a lighted match would have set off a flare that would have burned till New Years Eve. We kids were only allowed a small slice of course.
OCtober Every other day shave Geo F Trumper Rose cream B-400 Tuxedo synth brush Ceramic Suribachi bowl Gillette NEW LC OC 3pc IsoPlus Black Magic AS lotion Poked into dusty corners looking for something different & came up with a sample of Rose scented cream. I'm guessing it's softer when fresh as my little sample tub has dehydrated into a waxy stiff consistency. Scraped a bit too much out and pressed it into the textured bowl bottom. Moist Tuxedo action whipped up way more lather than I needed. Thick creamy non-dissapating rose with great residual slickness. Not counting blade uses has the advantage of getting full use, and the Personna Lab Blue wasn't done yet. Skipped the alum as it's still packed in my travel kit, with no nicks I didn't need it. The AS lotion is an alcohol free scented witch hazel and the only scent that I have that seemed to go with the GFT. If asked I might have said I prefer a TTO or injector, but I've spent nearly all month enjoying both the three piece NEW LC & Fatip. No idea what I'll use next month, but if I followed a "regular" rotation these two deserve their face time. Good Shaves Y'all!
That's pretty close to what my dear mother-in-law did. Only she more often used wine instead of bourbon. I was definitely one of the chosen. I was usually successful in getting her to let me sample it before Christmas.

If I'm understanding this right...in a way, fruitcake is like Williams? You have to add a bunch of something else to make it usable?
