After reading some more of your posts, I wonder is softness of water is a determining factor also. I can quickly and easily lather my wash rag with a little soap and the rag is loaded with plenty of lather. However, when my salt gets low (or I forget to add salt) it lathers harder and i have to use a lot more soap on my rag. This may be a factor. @PLAla
I use one of those plastic scrunchy things, and my wife also just uses the bar. We use the same bar, though and are able to get a month. Keeping the bar dry in between showers helps. We had a soap dish that held lots of water and the bars would disappear quickly. We got a new dish that kept the soap out of the water and they started lasting a lot longer.
I am horrible at describing scents...but...Ghost Town Barber smells just like the name implies. It's a kick the saloon doors open, bring me some whiskey, and don't look at me cross scent. It's masculine. It got a hint of medicinal/antiseptic smell. I think it's an OK scent, just not for me. My wife and son disapprove, too....so I spray it on the dog. My dog loves my shaving stuff. Stirling Barbershop is much more gentlemanly. Sweeter. Floyd's barbershop probably smelled like Stiirling's.
Wish I could say that, as then I would have enjoyed my Gatlinburg sampler more....although it does smell good.
So...I just connected to Stirling on Google+...and look what was staring at me! What is this Mogadishu Hope? I've never seen the label style either. Anyone know about this?
I remember seeing a test run of that soap run right around the time I started using Stirling. I never got in on it, and I am not sure it was ever done as a full batch.
Here's my (wild)guess about GTB-a clash between Midnight Stag(which I had once, but I'd have enjoyed it more at a different time of year)and Clubman.
I have Hot Apple cider and Barbershop. Only shaved with them a few times. . Love em great soaps wanting more. I like tobacco sent’s and barbershop wanting to try one with menthol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Barbershop and Vanilla Sandalwood are repeats. I tried Dunshire as bath soap, I got the trio of shaving products on it. The rest are new to me. I'll pick between Gentleman, Autumn Glory, and Gatlinburg and get a full jar/AS/balm treatment of it headed my way. Maybe pick 2. 1 x Barbershop - Shave (Size: 5.8oz Jar) 1 x Vanilla Sandalwood - Shave (Size: 5.8oz Jar) 1 x Stirling Gentleman - Shave (Size: 1.0oz Sample Puck) 1 x Dunshire - Shave (Size: 5.8oz Jar) 1 x Autumn Glory - Shave (Size: 1.0oz Sample Puck) 1 x Dunshire - 100ml Aftershave Splash 2 x Gatlinburg - Shave (Size: 1.0oz Sample Puck) 1 x Dunshire Post-Shave Balm 1 x Agar - Shave Final Scent Test (4.5oz Puck)
I'm surprised to see just a few reviews of Gentleman on the Stoylin website. (A.S.). I think Gatlinburg deserves another chance from me-it wasn't bad.
For Stirling newcomers, I have fun with the brand name itself(Stoylin)and Rod's name(Doc Ezlovan). Doc Ezlovan is fully aware of my silliness.
You’re gonna like the Agar...if you don’t like it, send it to me. I had a guy in the office today say he smelled something good...like a woodsy incense. I told him it was the Agar Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I saw a review for a Stoylin soap-he forgot to spell-check. Meant to say SLICKNESS, but it came out SICKNESS. Get some reviews going, but easy does it on the keys ).
