I've been good this year and actually sold 4 razors with 2 additions. Brushes are an entirely different matter.
Tell you what- We'll take Rush, Neil Young and The Band back, and you can keep Shania Twain, Celine Dion and Justin Beiber. I believe those first 3, along with Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell, are the only Canadian acts in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
I'm starting on a new, Neal-inspired Russian DE blade focus. I also hope to "master" a brush reputed to be a soap destroyer. I'll be using my trusty USA-made, stainless steel Weber three-piece DE razor and my Simpson Chubby 2 brush. I'll rotate between five different brands of Russian DE blades: Voskhod, Polsilver SI, GSB, Perma-Sharp Super, and Astra SP. I've used all these brands of blades before, with the exception of the GSB's. Assuming an average of three shaves per blade and 25 blades, this focus should continue into January. Just for fun, I'll try "pushing" one of each of the blades to see how many shaves I can comfortably get out of it.
Thank you everyone for the advice I will definitely do better in the morning with that lol. I definitely did some of it wrong but came out mostly blood free haha.
Hello Jason, and welcome to the 30 Day Crew! You're off to a great start, and you've already received some solid advice. I also suggest that, as you begin learning, you shave without the water or exhaust fan running. You will actually hear the whiskers being cut, and the sound will help you find and maintain the proper blade angle.
Jim, you went overboard when you purchased that Aristocrat. Send it to me, and you'll soon feel better about yourself.
I've been making about 5 gallons of gumbo for a cook off at work tomorrow to benefit the United Way. Definitely a long evening. I never knew what 5 gal of gumbo looked like. It looks like a lot.
Thank you, Clint. I appreciate the kind words. This week has really shot by! I hope your week has gone well. I'm sure it helps being past the October tax deadline. Thanks Andrew. I've probably got 30 shaves on the brush, and it continues to break in. I think it will be better after a couple more months of use. I have a tendency to not load enough soap or cream, and this brush requires a lot of product. I loaded heavy this morning and was rewarded with a great lather.
Jim, five gallons of gumbo should make a lot of folks very happy tomorrow! I wish I was there to sample it! Thanks for working in support of a great cause.
