I haven't used my Route 66 soap in a while so I decided to pull it out for last nights shave. This soap is so slick that I nearly dropped my scuttle while lathering, had a hard time holding on to my brush, and found myself wiping off my hands several times during the shave just so I could hold on to my razor. Did 3 passes and since I had an ample amount of super slick lather left in my scuttle I decided to chase the baby. Happy to say that my efforts were rewarded and I successfully caught him. Absolutely no irritation and the postshave feel of R66 is second to none. My two favorite citrus scents came together with a splash of Don Marco. Have a great day my friends!

The Double Open Comb photographs well. Does the OC cap allow more lather to remain at the blade/beard interface?

Inspired Shave! Think I'll use my Strop Shoppe soap next. It does give good lather.

That bowl gives me Lathe Envy. I had a fellow do some low hanging limb trimming yesterday. Bunch of Pecan wood now stacked up and drying in my garage. Now to find a low priced, not quite used up wood spinner before the wood ends up as smoke in my BBQ.

The brass ferrule sets off the walnut handsomely. Beautiful work!

Uh oh, I'm already inspired to use The Strop Shoppe Tallow, then I see Route 66...
    Either way I win.

Another simple, stunning photo, Clint! Do you have a preference for getting to that tough area on your neck- DE,SE?
I've seen a few photos of that DOC now, Jim. What does it shave like?
Fantastic photo, Brian. Is that Florida Water a glass bottle?
Absolutely love that style of Anchorset, Andrew. The shape is just a classic.

Great comparison, Perry. I have the Stirling Baker Street soap, and to be honest, I don't pick up a huge mint influence in it. It is probably very similar to your assessment of the splash.

It does leave more lather at the interface. It gives an impression of more slickness, and when a pass is completed, there are little streaks of lather left. Enough that you could go back over for a few touch ups with no problem.

Semogue Owners Club cherrywood boar brush
    TOBS Lavender Cream

Good shave today. Everything worked as it should. Pleasant soothing scent of lavender during the shave was continued on by the postshave balm.

    Have a great midweek!

To me, this razor is mild and comfortable. I think the optimal angle may not be quite as large as some other razors, but you almost have to work to get irritation. If you like super aggressive razors, this probably isn't the one for you. But, I have days where I don't want an aggressive shave, and this one works great for those times.

Go for it! if you are looking for used, look for cast iron. As well, if you find one with a rattly motor, you can drop in a new Baldor pretty easily and cheaply.
There are quite a few pics posted of TSDers turning their own stuff now. It'd be awesome to start a thread of turnings.
