    Friday's Adjustable Shave
    zcws.gif

    Proraso Pre Shave
    Musgo Real
    Jayaruh #220
    Rockwell 6C (4)
    Gillette Silver Blue
    CWR
    Thayer's Lemon WH
    Aqua Velva

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Musgo Real Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #220 synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Rockwell 6C Adjustable razor and Gillette Silver Blue blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Aqua Velva AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    20171108_152226.jpg

    Prep: pre shave soap mix
    Razor: Wilkinson Sword Classic
    Blade: Gillette Black
    Brush: Razorock BC Plissoft
    Soap: P&B Spitfire
    Post: MLSW Italian Stallion milk

This was a bit of a rough shave. The Spitfire did not make the usual thick protective lather. It may have been because I bowl lathered this time. Anyways, threw on some Italian Stallion milk to repair any damage that may have been caused.

    Prep: Musgo Real Oakmoss
    Razor: Gillette Redtip
    Blade: Laser Platinum
    Brush: Razorock BC Plissoft
    Soap: PAA Sangre De Drago
Post: PAA Sangre De Drago A/S

Very smooth shave and really enjoy the scent of Sangre De Drago, but the soap performance is adaquate at best. Prefer some of the other PAA/CK formulas much more. Luckily the aftershave lasts for a long time throughout the day.

    Prep: pre shave soap mix
    Razor: Wilkinson Sword Classic
    Blade: Laser Platinum
    Brush: Fine angel hair synthetic
    Soap: PDP 63
    Post: SC Endurance balm

Had a decent shave this evening. The PDP did not make the best lather but the scent is devine, spicy and like a expensive sandalwood cologne. Finished off with Endurance balm. Hope everyone had a great shave!

    November 9 - Qshave Focus

    Razor - Qshave Futur Clone
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Pre-Shave - Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
    Soap - Stirling Barbershop
    Brush - Jayaruh #54
    Post - Alum

Well, here's the challenge. The Qshave on 4.5 to end with a BBS like @RyX did last night. Let's see if the clones can both match up for us. I went with a fresh Feather tonight to replace the three day old Wilkinson and went Stirling Barbershop the the JR54 to insure a slick and wonderful lather.

Last night when I backed off to 4 on the razor I felt like it wasn't nearly as intuitive as it had been on higher settings. The angle seemed a bit restrictive and my finish was a very nice DFS, but not a BBS. I haven't tried any of the 1/2 notches with the razor so adding that .5 to the angle didn't seem like it would be a huge difference. Surprisingly, the feel is much better. That extra 1/2 made it a much more pleasant and effective shave. Hard to believe but the feel was definitely better for me. And, after two passes and an extra pass on my neck, which we'll call two and a half passes, I was left with a very nice BBS and no blood and alum that was mostly quiet. Right under my chin on the goatee line was a bit of a stinger but that was it.

Clearly the 4.5 worked for Rick and I both and that makes the month even more fun. I'm going to go up to 5.5 tomorrow night, then back to the wide open 6 on Saturday to compare. This is an extremely aggressive razor with the size gaps it carries but it does seem to work better and even smoother as you open it up. That's a nice discovery to make!

    SIX BLADE Cartridge Razor DISTRACTION
RAZOR: TopCare (Dorco Pace 6 Blade Handle - SXA1000)
BLADE: TopCare 6 blade (Pace 6 Cartridges)- this blade had been used 4 times since it was put away maybe 6-7 years ago.
PREP: Hot water shower with Zest Soap, hot water rinse
BRUSH: NO - applied by hand
    PRE-SHAVE: NO
    SHAVE CREAM: Barbasol Sensitive Skin
    POST SHAVE: Hot water rinse
    AFTER SHAVE: Master Bay Rum
    BALM: NONE
    Dorco_Pace6_Barbasol_Sensitive.jpg
Another very good 2+ pass BBS. It continues to astound me how quickly I can get to a baby smooth face using this shave system- 5 MINUTES TOPS.
I had a very small amount of razor burn today, but basically a no issue- no abrasions, no weepers, no cuts.
And basically no fun - no kidding.

Not really, there is an intrinsic joy in such an easy, efficient, eventless shave.
Back when I had 4 kids running around and lots of places to be, this was exactly what I sought - just a QUICK, efficient shave.
In fact, a one pass DFS was most likely what I settled for on most days. GIT 'ER DONE!

It really was only 2 things that pushed me into exploring the more traditional shave systems.
    1) Money - the continuously rising cost of new razors and replacement cartridges
    2) Availability - I was constantly seeing my favorite shave platform being pushed out of the store shelves by the newer (more expensive) products.
To be honest, those 2 factors continue to exert a major influence on my shaving decisions, but TIME and EASE of USE are other factors that count.

Makes me wonder if I would have ever found the joy of using the DE, STR8, and shavette without those motivating factors.
    Enjoy your shave.
