FREE CREAM - The Shave Cream Challenge

Sample E was my least favorite to date. It will be interesting to know what it was.

 

Something seems off with sample K. This was a dried chunk. Perhaps it dried up during shipping?? A real pain to lather. I have the other half rehydrating in water overnight.

mash it in your lather bowl and "bloom" it.

 

Sample "I" might be a little harder than a cream too.

 

That’s kinda what I figured. I just wasn’t actually prepared for this the first attempt. Second shave should be better.

Sample B shave is done. I found A to be a bit better over all. The scent of B was a little lemony to my nose.

 

Nice. If anyone wants to add “tasting notes” to the sheet for each sample that might prove interesting too!

Just got done trying out samle C using my quartermoon custom from Milton at TurnNShave. I ended up using my new acquisition. A Gem Micromatic and a Schick Injector G. As far as the cream went. I have no complaints. I found it above average in performance and enjoy it. It's the darn scent that is driving me nuts! I like it but I can't put a finger on any of the notes. Oooh!!!!

 

Alright, I need to know the brand name of sample G. I’m not saying why, but I think I know this one. Wait till the end you say?

Second shave with K. Smell is lite but smells like a chemical....in a bad way. Reminiscent of gun cleaning solvent. Also atypically difficult for me to lather. A no go for me, but I’m still glad I got to try it out

 

Sample C shave is done. The scent is completely different from the container to the face. In the container, it had a disinfectant quality. When I lathered it, it was pleasant, almost floral. Slick and cushiony as well. This was my favorite so far, although it did leave a little residue on my razor.

 

Yeah 'K' is the maverick I guess. More of a soap than a cream.

 

Sample G was a surprise. Thin and liquid in the sample cup it surprised me how well it lathered. It performed well. I’m curious about this one.

Hee Hee - when I first opened the tube of 'G' I though there was something wrong with it. Very liquid.... quite a surprise when lathered and a decent shave.

That looks like the lather I whipped up this morning. The cream was like a liquid in the container, so I was quite surprised.

 

2nd shave with sample B while traveling. It was just fine. Still slick and cushion, even with unknown water at Blackhawk, Colorado.
