SOTD November 13, 2017 Prep: Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap Blade: Schick Razor: Personna injector Brush: Vulfix badger Lather: C.O. Bigelow cream Post: Witch hazel, Barbasol Pacific Rush aftershave WTG, touch up I agree with @clint64 - the weekends are entirely too short! Nice and easy shave this morning. The Bigelow cream works really well. Lathers easily and is nice and slick. The menthol element is refreshing. The nice lather was swiped away by the Personna injector with ease. All worked together nicely. I'm having a good time this month just shaving with different combinations of enjoyable products. Hope everyone has a great day!
Having finished box #3 of the pass around, I'll be flirting with the dark side, and shaving with less thinking about the soap and more thinking about enjoyment of the shave. Having said that, the OCD side of me still wants to analyze things into oblivion, so this morning I shaved one side of my face with Catie's LPV and the other with WSP Mahogany. Both performed similarly, but the scent of Mahogany is a huge standout for me. What a great scent!
Thanks, Clint. I haven't tried everything Supply offers, but all the items I have used have been high quality. They are a small husband and wife outfit that say they are committed to selling only top quality goods, and so far, I have found they live up to that. One thing I liked: right after I bought my new razor, I received an email offering me an immediate refund. It said that the razor is capable of giving a user some of the best shaves of his life but for someone who has never used an injector before, there will be a short learning curve. If I wasn't prepared to put in a bit of time and effort practicing a new way of shaving before achieving top results, then please let them know now and they would refund my purchase, because they would rather make no sale than make it to someone who would be an unhappy customer. I have never seen that before from a vendor and I thought it was quite classy.
Great photo Perry. The Personna Injector was so futuristic looking for its time. You can see where Suppy and Cobra were inspired by the design.
You are one of many that have posted about the positive way Supply conducts business. It is really nice to see a vendor doing the right thing.
Fine shave today with Rte 66 Cavendish soap followed by Clubman Special Reserve. The two go well, as a combination, IMO.
My wasabi "error" made me look(and sound)like the antithesis of @Yehuda D . It was like Stoylin's Texas On Fire on steroids that were on steroids. To be fair to Doc Ezlovan, I haven't tried Texas On Fire.
Thanks, Clint! The Personna definitely has a sleek, modern look. It's very light and shaves well but I bet some folks would say it's too mild for them. Works just fine for me.
That conversation seems oddly familiar, Jason. Another great photo of the CH2 and Weber, Charlie! Fantastic photo, Clint. I am eagerly watching to see how the Gem continues to perform. Rules are meant to be broken! Great photo Jim, The Red Tip is definitely one of my favorites. Very nice, Perry!
SOTN November 12th RazoRock MJ-90 (standard base plate) Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless RazoRock "What The Puck" Blue Barbershop Jayaruh #134 Skin Bracer in Avon "The Knight" decanter My shave last night found me using two new products for the first time. The first was the RazoRock "What The Puck" shave soap in the Blue Barbershop scent. This soap is a hard triple milled vegan based shave soap with Shea Butter and Lanolin. The scent is supposed to be reminiscent of Floid Blue (I've never smelled Floid Blue or anything else that has claimed to be similar before) and was fantastic! The soap was able to achieve a super goop consistency and was very dense, creamy, and slick. The second product that got its' first go last night was the RazoRock MJ-90 safety razor. With a machined aluminum head and titanium handle this makes for a very lightweight razor. The standard base plate is designed to be very similar (clone) to that of the EJ DE89/ Mule R89. Indeed this razor felt very safe on the face with minimal blade feel and has a narrow cutting angle window. After three passes I had a nice DFS, but there is definitely room for improvement. On the plus side there was not a hint of irritation. After I was done I applied some the the remaining lather to my face while I cleaned up, post shave feel was very nice. My skin felt soft and hydrated and I did not experience any drying or tightness. I finished off with a splash of Skin Bracer and was relaxed and ready for bed. Have a great day my friends!
And I just repeated my earlier post, didn't I? Shux. Oh well, we have repeating razors and repeating posts. But I'll cut back on the repetitions.
Glad to hear a positive report on that soap. I've been eyeing that for a possible future purchase. They make a shaving stick in that scent as well. The aftershave sold out quickly and hasn't been replenished yet. I'd probably buy the set once the splash came back in.
I feel fairly confident I will get 8-10 shaves from the modified Gem blade. Over the next several months, I will keep comparing the modified Gem to the Feather FHS blades.
It is a great scent, Perry! It isn't overly powdery and off the puck I was mainly getting the lavender and something "herby" , but as I lathered the lemon and bergamot started coming out which really made the scent complex and fantastic!
