Alum and Supply Healing Post Shave - Lost Provence
I repeated yesterday's shave, except (a) I used the synthetic brush instead of my Semogue SOC boar, and (b) I used a sample scoop spoon to load the croap-like cream from the jar. What looks like a reasonable amount of product when I am scraping it with a sample spoon turns out to be about four times as much as I think is reasonable when scooping with my fingernail. And that was just about right. My lather from this cream finally matched what I can get by tub-loading the earlier Supply soap.
I had a good creamy lather that was sufficient for three passes even though all of the cream didn't get used. Which highlights the final change I need to make when using this cream -- I smeared it in the bottom of the rather smooth horn quaich I usually use as a lather bowl, but some soap fragments just broke free and swirled in the lather without ever being absorbed. In future, I will switch over to my suribachi bowl for this cream. (Supply actually offers a rough-textured marble shaving bowl as one of its products.)
(I can lather TOBS creams just fine in the horn quaich, but I probably should use the suribachi bowl when doing
@Vlasta's cream sample challenge too, just to ensure all the creams get loaded equally.)
With good lather, I went all out on the shave today and did a full three passes instead of my normal two. The baby not only showed up, he brought his entire toybox with him so he could stay awhile. The alum was warm in a couple places on my chin and jaw where I overdid the passes, but the Supply balm quietened it all down again.
Overall I am extremely pleased not only with my new V 2.0 injector's performance (and its neat matte black finish) but also with the knowledge that I can finally get good lather out of this particular cream, despite the fact that it comes packed in wretchedly small-diameter jars.
Now I just need to get good lather from this cream while using my Semogue SOC boar brush...
