  1. Thanks, Clint. That sounds a lot like the Fine Lavender scent as well.
  2. Great photo, Charlie! Its very interesting to see the underside of the Weber!
A boring old BBS shave, first world problems, Clint! The photo is not boring in the least though!
Very cool that you got the supply cream figured out, John! Though it might take a bit more with the boar.
That is a stunningly beautiful brush, Mark!
Awesome shot Jim! does the cream smell like Lucky Tiger, perhaps?
I wonder if your homebase razor will change in the coming weeks, Perry. Great photo!
  3. We shall see!
  4. My life is going to be crazy for the next couple of months. Selling and buying a house and moving is a very busy time. I’m liable to be able to just pop in occasionally and try and keep up with you guys. I’ll be here in spirit

    RazoRock MJ-90 (S plate)
    Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless (2)
    DR Jon's Hydra :sick013:
    Stirling 24mm Synthetic
    Homemade Lime AS

Last night I finally finished up the sample of Dr Jon's hydra that Guy @ram57 sent me over a year ago! Also second shave with the MJ-90 using the standard base plate and I have to say, I am not in love with it. I really feel that this razor and others like it (DE89/R89 and Merkur and their various clones) are really designed to compensate for a heavy handed newbie (I kinda felt this way the last time I used my Merkur 34C too, though it wasn't quite as apparent to me then). Using a feather light touch with this razor and it seems like the geometry just doesn't allow the blade to fully engage with the skin. I did four passes last night including a full on ATG pass (which I usually don't do or need) and I was still left with a low grade DFS at best. Leaving well enough alone I finished up with a splash of my homemade lime AS. Next shave I will switch out to the [A]ggressive base plate and see if that makes any kind of difference. Have a great day my friends!

  6. Both Tranquility Fine Lavender are takes on Cambridge & Oxford. As such both Fine Lavender and Tranquility are very very similar.
  7. Thank you Andrew. You know you're doing good when you complain about a boring near perfect shave. :D
  8. Selling and moving in the same city is stressful enough. I can only imagine the stress of moving out of state. I am praying that everything goes as smoothly as possible. Keep us posted on the progress from time to time.
  9. Great photo Andrew. I plan on picking up my 34c for some shaves over the next couple of weeks. It will be the first time I have used it in years so I expect I will feel much like you.

I flew to Vancouver last night for a meeting today. No need to check a bag, so this is the first time I've used a cartridge in about a year. I bought a pack of 3 bladed fixed-head disposables.
Whipped up a nice Palmolive lather, and had pretty decent 2 pass shave with this disposable. I can't ever remember doing two passes with a cartridge, but I've become used to close shaves. Finished with the fantastic Gentleman.
    Have a great day all!

  13. Hmm, I dont think we have a 3 blade fixed head here in the US. at best a twin blade. But glad you got to enjoy some Gentleman away from the discerning nose of the Mrs.

Razor: Bakelite Star Frankenrazor(?), Contract Tech
    Blade: Gillette Platinum Plus (4)
    Brush: 30DC LE/Pure Badger
    Cream: KMF fragrance-free
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

Well, this one was interesting. I picked up what is supposed to be a Bakelite Star razor to go with the Star case that came with an English Gillette. It's definitely a Star handle and baseplate, but now I'm not sure about the cap. In a nutshell, it's a peaked Bakelite cap with the numbers '1' and '2' on opposite sides as opposed to a metal cap. My first hint that something was wrong was when I put in the blade. Basically, there was almost no blade gap!

Needless to say the shave was so mild. (How mild was it?) It was so mild that I had to reach over into the next foxhole and grab the Contract Tech for a rare third pass. That managed to bring home a DFS.

Clearly, this was not the best way to start the day.

  15. from Pullman/Pomeroy WA crossing into Idaho, it appears Cour D'Alene is the closest major spot.
  16. Paul, just curious, what is it about Pullman that interests you? Isn't Washington State University located there?
  17. Yes it is. Actually, I'd prefer a place more to the west, although not Seattle-too crowded there*. Pullman looks like a pleasant laid-back type city. Actually has a bit more of a "Western" appeal than does areas to its west(if that makes sense). There are some on-line vidoes of Pullman I like(although there also are of most of the areas I've been researching). Quality health-care facility. Do you know anyone from there?

*Yogi Berra-"Nobody goes there, it's too crowded".
  18. Here's to a new adventure!
