I'm still trying to identify the mystery cap that came with my Bakelite Star razor. The closest match I've seen is the Philips Philite though I think there are some subtle differences. Along the way, I realized something... The geometry of the base of the cap is the same as a OT top cap (right down to the fact that neither will work right with the Star). So...

    And off we go!

The shave seemed a bit rougher/more aggressive, though that may have been the Astra SP which was already in the razor showing its age. No issues and a quiet Alum, however, and a very high DFS overall. It's an interesting combo and one that I might have to try again. I almost wish I could find a loose OT baseplate to permanently pair with the cap.

Still waiting on the NOS Rubie Stainless blades. They appear to be stuck in a causality look as they have departed Trenton, NJ for the second day in a row.

Oh, is today Friday? I thought yesterday was..... ;)

Have a great day, my friend. I'm so glad you and your Dad have good times together. Treasure these times. :happy088:

Great photo and lineup Perry. When I clean my brushes, I find that they release the lather more quickly and don't hog it in the knot.

Thanks everyone for the compliments on the brush. Again, all credit goes to @jtspartan, as I am just the guy who gets to enjoy it. As far as the knot, it performs almost identically to the Stirling 26mm badger, which is a knot I like quite a bit. That knot was originally destined for this handle, but I broke the base of the knot while extracting it from the handle and ended up having to do emergency surgery. The surgery was a success, although the knot isn't perfectly symmetrical anymore, so I put it in an inexpensive Crown King (PAA) handle that was being discontinued (i.e. on sale for cheap). Ironically, I like that brush quite a bit, but I felt the new handle deserved its own pristine knot.

Gorgeous pair of brushes, Randy. And always good to know about another source for fine badger knots.

Thanks, Clint. For face lathering shave sticks, I find the plissoft synthetics work like a charm. A perfect match of brush to task.

I am going to be sad when this one is done. It is not a candy scented lime. It is more of lime squeezed into a drink smell. Its good stuff. They also have a Lilac one, that I am told smells like the Veg, minus the cat urine.

Great photo, Clint. You seem to be getting a run out of that Gem blade!
Nice shot of the Sheraton, Jim!
Perhaps some of that built up soap sum prevents the brush from being a lather hog ?
A pair of gorgeous brushes Randy, you need to post more SOTD photos!
I've got a few errands this morning. Have no fear, I shall not deprive you of the baby pic!

That is a cool look on the OT. Let me look through my stash, I may have a spare baseplate.

Thank you Andrew. I am pleased with how the Gem blade is holding up. I usually get somewhere around 10 shaves with the blade in a Gem razor so I am expecting something similar in the OneBlade.
