All right, fellas....here's something I just thought about. A few months ago, I wrote a post about my concern of using my Stirling Sandpiper w/Menthol A.S. as we approach the cold weather seasons. Someone replied by saying, in effect, that Rod's added menthol doesn't match up to that of, say, Aqua Velva, or some other mentholated A.S. Here's the question-is that because the fragrance of the Stirling overpowers the fact that there happens to be menthol added to it?

    Prep: Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Kai Captain Mild
    Razor: RazoRock Black Hawk
    Brush: Surrey badger
    Lather: Stirling Sandpiper
Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Sandpiper aftershave

Nice shave this morning from the Black Hawk razor and Stirling's Sandpiper. Great scent. Really enjoyable all around.

We will hit the road in a little while to head south. We're stopping for lunch in Montgomery at the Fried Tomato Buffet (I know, I know....remember, I am from Alabama). I highly recommend this restaurant if you're passing through Montgomery. Terrific Southern food; much more than just fried green tomatoes, even though they have those in abundance. Our little boy loves it because he can get basically anything he wants in small servings to keep him interested.

I'm taking Country Club Cahaba Blues soap, The Fat, and Speick cream for the week. Jeeves Tobacco splash, Speick, and Fine American Blend for aftershaves. Will be a good week of shaving as well as rest.

    Have a great weekend!

I agree that the menthol additions to Stirling's splashes are fairly mild. I find Aqua Velva, Skin Bracer, Barbasol Brisk and Pacific Rush to be more chilly than the Stirling additions. Now Rod offers a Glacial option for his aftershaves where you can make them extra cold. But he's a master at letting the scents come through despite the menthol levels. I personally don't mind at all using menthol during the colder months. I am shaving indoors in the controlled temperature and the coldness of the menthol has worn off by the time I go outside. I want cooling with any of my splashes.

Good photo Perry. Have a great trip. We grow tomatoes in our garden, I really enjoy fried green tomatoes.

Right, I'm aware of Doc Ezlovan's Glacial aftershaves, but I'm glad you believe he can keep the scents going "despite the menthol levels"(your words).

You certainly get a whiff of menthol when you smell the glacial soaps or splashes, but the scents are absolutely there and come through over the menthol. I wouldn't use his stuff if it smelled like only menthol.....not sure anyone would!

Glad to hear Maya is progressing well, Clint. Now she gets to go to the gym and find out that friendly therapist is a sadist from Hell...

Safe travels, Perry, and Happy Thanksgiving. We'll have to check out the Fried Tomato Buffet sometime. We'll order off the heart healthy menu. :D

We love the Florida panhandle, and I know you won't be too far from it. Enjoy the time with your family. You guys need a break!

Oh she already knows Tiffany is a sadist. She had been working out with the therapist over the last year trying to avoid the surgery. I think the fact that she was in such good shape prior to the surgery is one reason she is weeks ahead of schedule.
