I've always wondered how difficult it would be to hone one of those exaggerated smiling blades. :happy088::happy088:

Tonight's shave was with a fine Full Wedge of a Pipe Razor. It's a silent whisker whacker, that gave me a DFS with 2 passes. This is a fun shaving BIG Heavy Wedge.

Just stumbled across the Restoration thread on this one... amazing work on the scales. I have a slightly smaller (6/8) Geo Wostenholm Pipe razor and the scales are in similar shape. You put in A LOT of time and effort on yours and it turned out great. Thanks for documenting the process!

Thanks, it was time intensive. I really don't like tossing original scales, if I don't need to. I try to be creative.

Swiss frame back today. Worked really well on my neck and cheeks, chin went to the slim. BBS though in the end..

Had to follow the SK1 with the SK3. While less visually striking, I feel it is the better shaver... and still with a smile. :)

A little Shavemac rubbed in LPL Rose de Pushkar = nice relaxing shave.

W.R. Case & Sons 5/8 razor from Bradford, PA with celluloid covered tang and figured celluloid scales. Haven’t cleaned this one up other than honing it. PAA Sundown software, and vintage Gillette Sun Up stink.

This razor was a mess. Hours spent hand sanding with 220 before moving up. Still has some beauty marks but I tried to soften with a hand applied satin finish (600 grit w/ WD40 then softened with 2500). I couldn’t figure out what to do with scales... so went with camel bone transitioning to blue flame transitioning to the original horn.

A very nice shave with my Herder today. Nothing remarkable about the reduction but the end result said it all. I rarely use a brush two shaves in a row but I enjoyed the Romera so much on it’s maiden voyage that I put it to use again today. Sweet. :happy036:

    Thank you.

I had some camel bone left over from another set and the original horn had some major bits missing. I thought I could “attach” the bone to the horn with 2 part crystal resin. I cut the flame pattern then made a small aluminum foil mold to hold epoxy. I added white, blue & silver flakes to the resin. Then a lot of sanding to get back to original shape.
