Most people don't realize it, @NCoxSTL sang the theme from Rawhide as a tribute to his shaves.

    Prep: Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick
    Razor: Schick G8 injector
    Brush: Omega Hi synthetic
    Lather: Country Club Cahaba Blues
Post: Witch hazel, Jeeves of Hudson Street Tobacco Bay Leaf aftershave, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch up

Nice and easy shave with this combination. I tried to channel @clint64 with my photo but I need to leave the outdoors shots to him and Doug. Mine doesn't live up.

Today is our (my wife and I) 8th anniversary. We will go out to dinner tonight while her mother can watch our little boy. Had great drinks last night at The Haberdashery in downtown Mobile followed by a great dinner just down the street at The Dumbwaiter Restaurant. Check these places out if you ever need to be in downtown Mobile.

    Have a great day!

Haven't been posting much. I've been doing Vlasta's shave cream challenge and using my 30DC brush every day. I finished the challenge (and tried a lot of great creams).

That being done, I am jumping into some new soaps. Today I had the best shave in recent memory and took out two days of growth with this humble ensemble.

I admit, I'm not a huge fan of the soap packaging (2oz plastic snuff tin, non-waterproof labels - though I do enjoy the artwork and his wild west concept), but man does it work well. The scent is leather, rose, bourbon, vanilla and steam...punk. And it is loud and proud.

After one pass, I was left with pretty much a DFS and nothing else to use the remaining copious lather on. So I did a for-the-heck-of-it ATG pass, and had the smoothest, softest face I have had in a long time.

The razor is nothing fancy, but I really dig the patina on it. And man, will it ever shave close. [IMG]

I liked it a lot. At first I thought it wasn’t going to work because it wasn’t rubbing much off on my face. I took a wet brush to it and the lather exploded. This soap is slick and performed great with a straight. It’s a keeper.

I am thinking I will try several of the mainline shaving soaps and creams from Europe during 2018. I have already bought the new Proraso Single Edge cream. I will likely add Speick and La Toja. If you have know of any others I should consider let me know.

Try the Palmolive and Wilkinson Sword sticks. They are very inexpensive and are good performers.

I am traveling, but will be posting shaves. I brought along a rule compliant kit and looking forward to more Arko Challenge. Catch you all soon!

Cool looking razor. The artwork on the tin does look great.

Wonderful winter photo Doug. Truly calendar ready. I know the feeling Doug. As much as I enjoy the Blu and Rossa, they might be a bit much for me to use on a daily basis.
